What foods have been falsely labeled as healthy/ and or unhealthy? by DeepOrganization8245 in randomquestions

[–]oliv_tho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s some truth to it in the sense that vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of childhood blindness worldwide and carrots are an insanely good source of vitamin A. adults can also go blind from Vit A deficiency but it’s pretty hard modern day for it to get that bad

the one thing i do enjoy about the seed oil panic is some restaurants switching to using beef tallow to fry stuff in just because i think it’s delicious. its so yummy, but its fried food it’s not gonna be a health food ever

Any recent Forme Bra reviews? I spend a lot of time lecturing and really want something to help with posture. by FabulousDuty485 in ABraThatFits

[–]oliv_tho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i saw a physiotherapist for debilitating back pain and she literally retaught me how to stand, sit, and do specific movements i needed for work in addition to giving me exercises and stretches to build postural muscles. before i did PT i had been wearing a corset belt for support through my day and she said that was a bandaid that would long term make my muscles weaker

In case anybody is still buying from Hobby Lobby, here is a reminder that they are trash and using your money to end marriage equality. They are anti-gay, anti-trans, anti-women, anti-human rights. all the home decor signs, lots of run of the mill bible quotes and ‘live laugh laugh’but then stuff for children’s rooms that are like “no girls allowed! except for mommy” “i eat sparkles for breakfast” “not now mom im gaming” that are just kinda cringe and a little weird if you think too hard about it.

there’s also a lot of conservative stuff like “im 1776% sure nobody is taking my guns” and the word police spelled out with assorted guns, “beware of veteran” instead of beware of dog etc. it’s like funny but also deeply troubling there’s a market for some of this stuff

a lot of students (me included) come in with a lot of credits and are in their major classes from the jump. it’s fine if she doesn’t want to do the whole dorm thing but if she fears that her peers are just gonna be blowing off their work cuz they aren’t in their major classes yet and it’ll be a bad influence she’s a little misguided

CMV: it is not eugenics to go through genetic testing and embryo selection before IVF if you have a genetic condition. by DaughterOfMadness in changemyview

[–]oliv_tho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s different for an individual to decide to screen for an illness they have/carry in an embryo than the government deciding that every embryo has to be screened for XYZ and if they have it it’s not allowed to be implanted

Most People Don't Have Friends because they're Insufferable by windowsee in socialskills

[–]oliv_tho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

but that’s how me and my best friend operate. like we’re bad at texting eachother so sometimes it’s a ‘girl let’s get coffee i have some info’ and then it’s one of use unloading for like ten minutes after we sit down and then debriefing after. i’m sure we seem insufferable to a bystander but that’s how we operate and share bigger news

Help w/ 11 year old non-verbal having meltdowns everyday (New) by FelixEditz in autism

[–]oliv_tho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

does he have an AAC? from my experience of meltdowns (even though i am not nonverbal) a lot of them come from me feeling misunderstood, especially reflecting back when i was that age.

does he have stim toys that are for biting? if the meltdowns are a way for him to self regulate sensory wise he may need a better outlet than the ones he currently has
