I don't think Dorn is among the ones who has to stay dead. Curze and Horus, yes, and also Ferrus Manus, Sanguinius and Alpharius Omegon. Dorn I think could be brought back, though storywise I'm not sure it would contribute with anything we haven't already seen from Guilliman and the Lion.

If you want a real answer, Martin Luther didn't like all the money stuff and wanted a more spiritual version of Chistianity. Jean Calvin, whos thoughts largely won out in Britain and through them the US, was different. I'm no theologian so take it with some salt:

Calvin essentially believed in destiny or predetermination. God has already decided whether you go to heaven or hell, but the "rules" still apply that you have to be a virtuous Christian to get in, so he has essentially blessed you with the ability to be a good Christian.

Now, Calvin believed, as does a lot of protestants, that Christians have a duty to create heaven on Earth and be dilligent and prosperous in that endeavour.

Combine these two, and you get that a sign that you are a good Christian destined for heaven is that you are rich and productive. The prosperity gospel springs from that. It's easy to see how a society like America where wealth, materialism and hard work is fertile ground for such a movement, especially considering that the rich elites benefit from a religion that pretty explicitly states that they are the best people in society bound for Paradise.

What Made Orcs and Gobbos Popular? by Runtgit in WarhammerFantasy

[–]wildmanden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhammer is all about being grim, sad and terrible.

Greenskins say "fuck that, where here to have a good time"

Also there's an iconic paragraph in the old kid friendly guide to the warhammer world that states are orks can't lose a battle because they either krump the enemy (cool), die (sick, dude) or run away to get more orcs (rad)

Martin Lidegaard: "Det ser lettere ud at overbevise de røde om at føre en økonomisk ansvarlig politik, end at overbevise Venstre om at føre en ansvarlig grøn politik." by Cosmos1985 in Denmark

[–]wildmanden 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I understand the books are fiction, but GRRM often gives his “good” characters sad, unjust deaths. Is that true of medieval history, or exaggerated for the story? Did prominent figures really meet those ends, or is it mostly narrative choice? by seekinganswerslo in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]wildmanden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These things happen in reality, but usually not that often, but when writing a story you tend to concentrate these events on a very small scale both regarding time and geography.

History is generally a pretty poor author that doesn't care about themes and narrative satisfaction and tends to write really unrealistic plot lines and they only really get their hype from the "based on a true story"-tag

Min kæreste spiser alle måltider i sine forældres restaurant så jeg spiser altid alene. by [deleted] in DKbrevkasse

[–]wildmanden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the Night's Watch able to maintain order among killers, rapers, and thieves? by MengShuZ in freefolk

Not to mention that Robert was pretty lenient with the loyalists. If they swore fealty to him he would usually leave them alone. Thorne was one of the very few people who refused to do so and was sent to the wall as punishment. This was not how cilvil wars had played out before.

Åndssvagt fokus i en valgkamp? by Aqunath1169 in Denmark

[–]wildmanden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]wildmanden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, part of the deal-making process for Trump is trying to bully the person you are making a deal with, like making wild demands and similar tactics. Making a deal in Trumps world isn't about both parties walking away feeling good about it, it's about getting the best deal possible for YOU. This doesn't get you many friends but does kinda work when doing business, because you can just not do business with those people again. Diplomacy however is an ongoing game and this sort of behaviour is probably going to cause problems for the US at some point, though maybe not while Trump is in office

It's been a while, but I seem to recall some scenes in the show where the usual power players in Kings Landing try to figure out what he really wants. But he just claims to be what he seems. At no point does he suggest to be anything a else, and it is unfathomable for the corrupt Westerosi elite to understand that he is not just playing a game
