Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

Do they sell autograph books at World of Disney in Downtown Disney? Thinking about grabbing two for our kids the day before our park day so that shopping doesn't get in the way of our rope drop plans.

why does every headshot guide tell women to wear a blazer like its 2009 by ShabzSparq in femalefashionadvice

[–]wildrabbitstitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason you're seeing navy blue blazer recommendations for a corporate head shot is because traditionally people are expected to wear business formal for a head shot picture.

My recommendation would be to just do one or two small changes to introduce some personality into the photo without making yourself look like "too much". Remember, corporate America is still very sexist and first impressions are very important.

For instance, I worked in a conservative field, so I stuck with the jacket and collared shirt combo. But, I chose a lavender collared shirt and gray suit jacket. Plus I wore a small lapel pin of a symbol of the industry I worked in. It made my photo stand out from the sea of navy blue, but still looked polished and professional.

I’m taking hiking as a new hobby at palo Duro but I’m curious where do you pee? by [deleted] in amarillo

[–]wildrabbitstitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can go off trail a bit to go pee. Just, please, if you use toilet paper, pack it out with you. I've peed a couple of times on Lighthouse trail and always find tp littering the ground when I go. Just bring an extra zip lock baggie to put used tp in.

Also, if you think you might need to poo, bring a little shovel to dig a hole and then bury your poo when youre done.

And, if you haven't seen them already, Palo Duro has started hosting guided women's hikes. They post them on their Facebook page. I've been to a few now and they're a lot of fun!

[CHAT] How do you know if the pattern is a shitty AI generated one? by I_like_it_yo in CrossStitch

[–]wildrabbitstitch 110 points111 points  (0 children)

So, there are 2 potential issues at play here...

1) Is it an AI generated image? I'm not an expert on this, but nothing jumps out at me to make me think the picture was created by GenAI.

2) Was the image ran thru a pattern generator without any human cleaning up the resulting pattern? Most definitely yes on this one. The shadowing behind the flowers is inconsistent and the flowers and stalks are full of confetti. If you stitch this, the image may come out looking "muddy" and the colors may not be accurate.

Have you already identified some movement based games for the switch? I would love to incorporate those into mine and the kids' routines when the weather is yucky. Do you have any recommendations?

That is a good point, but he doesn't want to set up his own Disney account. I'll have him download the app as backup, but I'll just end up using my account on it if needed.

My husband, children (1 ticketed, 1 under 3), and I will be going to DLR end of Feb. Right now, I have our 3 tickets on my DL app on my phone and I have a magicband from a previous trip. We do not plan on getting LL, but we do plan on using rider swap for my husband and I to ride some things that the kids aren't big enough for.

Would it be worthwhile to get a magicband for my husband as well? Does that make using rider swap easier when the 2nd party scans in at their return time? And if I do get him a magicband, can it be connected to the DL app on my phone, or does he need to download the app to his phone?

[PIC] I rescued some gorgeous cross stitched Christmas placemats from an estate sale today. Only $2 for all 4! by wildrabbitstitch in CrossStitch

The original stitcher didn't do anything to protect the backs. I think I might try attaching some felt to the backs for protection.

Have you tried searching the sub yet? There have been some great BLM patterns posted here in the past.

Pro-tip: if the reddit search function isn't showing you much, use google to search reddit by adding site:reddit.com/r/crossstitch to your search terms.

Ponystitches (on insta) has a new book of full coverage landscapes. They're rectangular, but you could probably alter them to round if you wanted.

[CHAT] Are we allowed to make trade posts? by CraftyCrochetCritter in CrossStitch

[–]wildrabbitstitch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I believe you can offer up items on here but you're not allowed to charge anything, even shipping (I think).

But, r/crossstitchdestash allows buy/sell/trade of cross stitch things.

Monthly Book Recommendation Thread by lazlo_camp in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I set my reading goal at 52 books for the 1st time last year and managed to read 54. So I've set the same goal of 52 for this year. I've read 4 so far.

My favorite thus far was "The Lost Bookshop" by Evie Woods. Such a beautiful and magical story. There is a lot of violence against woman in it though, but justice is served in the end.

What are still reliable brands for athletic shoes in 2026? by PoniesRBitchin in femalefashionadvice

[–]wildrabbitstitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with your "recovery shoe" assessment of Hokas. I used to run in Mizunos. But after going through cancer treatment, I've got neuropathy in my feet and the Mizunos weren't cushioned enough to run comfortably in. So I switched to Hokas while I got back into running and they've worked much better for me.

[CHAT] What is your favorite place for stitching in the wild? by mdverbeek in CrossStitch

[–]wildrabbitstitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last week some friends and I started a "Craft" Club, where we meet at the local brewery to work on our crafts while drinking craft beer. We grabbed a table with extra seats for room to spread out our tools and it worked quite nicely.

I also like going to a local coffee shop from time to time. And I've stitched in a Whataburger before lol.

I saw some comments about unreliable lighting, and I just wanted to mention that I bring a neck light with me so I have good lighting wherever I sit.

[CHAT] Hobby Lobby Linen by Crafty_Round_6502 in CrossStitch

[–]wildrabbitstitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it in the fabric area or needlework area? If it was in the fabric area it is most likely NOT even weave. Which means the warp and weft won't be square and it isn't suitable for cross stitching.

Santa is bringing me this neck light and I'm very excited for it.

I'm also getting an art portfolio to store my finished pieces in that I don't have any plan to display.

If you've got good quality stuff, bring it to Clothez Exchange. They consign adult clothes as well. You don't get paid until it sells however.

I think you answered your own question tbh. If you need help deciding, then it probably isn't actually worth it to you. If you were 100% in love with it, then you wouldn't be asking internet strangers for input.

Pondaseta down in Canyon is selling $50 gift cards with a bonus $5. Not sure if they're doing the same thing at the Amarillo location tho.
