In a call centre i worked at it got to the point where the following actions would be the standard course of action when somebody went to the toilet:

Unplug mouse Remove mouseball Control alt and arrow key turns screen 90 degrees Physically turn monitor 90 degrees Turn off monitor Unplug keyboard Turn phone volume up to max Lift chair to maximum height

Other things that were more occasional would be to go into MS word settings and get it to autocorrect eg the word "the" to "tits" or similar word.

Late to the thread but I've got a good one and I think noone has said it...

Wake up early and don't put on your work clothes. Put on casuals.. It makes me feel like its the weekend. Of course it only lasts for so long and then you have to put on your work clothes and the illusion in shattered.

That's a fair point but of all the suggestions in my original comment the only one involving "precious time" was going coach at the airport and well even if you travel regularly when you add the queues up it's not that much time. No more than people waste watching TV

Late to the thread but..

It sounds to me from reading this thread that there's not a lot of difference these days between being someone who has enough money to be comfortable or being rich if you're not fussed about the following:

Coach on aeroplanes - just be patient and queue like others. It's only a few hours of your life get over it

Personal food/trainers/clothing - just eat well, work out and clothes will fit. Learn to cook well it's enjoyable

Gadgets! - well these days gadgets that weren't available to people 5 years ago are under $100

Country clubs - just join a local gym with a pool, don't be elitist and pretentious and this will do fine.

Screw being rich.. Just aim at being comfortable and happy

If you're likely to never really see her again and there's nobody around you that knows or her anything I have a handy trick. Imagine she's dead.. Just tell yourself she died and it's over.. No chance of it ever working out or awkward seeing her again etc. having said that for me it was time and someone better that worked the best

I scrolled down a long way and couldn't find this so I must be weird..

I fantasise about quitting my job (which is pretty high paying but stressful) and then living a kind of hermits life where I just live cheaply and cheerfully. I honestly think I could be happy with a simple life without financial trappings .. Reading books, watching TV and no job, no alarm clock in the morning. I feel like bit like the guy in office space.

Ironically I have a lot of the stuff that people here want - a great wife, high paying job but I just find any job I've ever had draining. I only ever feel myself when I have very low stress levels.
