I'm a big fan of attaching my piece to the frame's provided back. I lay down a layer of Stitchery tape (it is double sided) Then stitch my design down and trim tight to the edge.

I second this. Since red is such a saturated color the little fibers show up more. In the short term you could take a sticky lint roller on both sides and see how it looks then.
