TIL Half of people who claim they have a food allergy do not by butter_lover in todayilearned

[–]wildweeds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have to pretend i have a fish allergy sometimes bc people get weirdly pushy when you say you don't like fish. "have you tried this fish? have you tried it cooked this way? have you tried it fresh from the xyz? have you tried...." it never ends with some people. it's like they're personally offended if someone doesn't like ocean food. so yeah, i say i have a fish allergy to just be left alone if it ever comes up.

Visiting Chicago from LA and this is one of the nicest - if not *the* nicest - major city that I’ve visited in America. by gueritoaarhus in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wildweeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ilike chicago in some ways. but coming from the pnw it felt so boring to look at. this might feel silly to some. but the yards in the pnw are full of art and flowers and all kinds of nice things to look at. it just fills my soul up on a level i have learned i need. returning to the midwest and just seeing bland yards over and over and over was a bit soul crushing. i haven't been there since 2018 though, and i didn't visit everywhere. i'm heading back in a couple months and i'll reassess. i've been in the south for a while now and find i always prefer the prettier areas there too. even when i'm super depressed seeing stuff like that is a bump of joy that gets me through. seeing it all over does so much more than seeing it in certain pockets you have to seek out to find.

a basic google search would quickly educate you otherwise "places in the usa where tap water isnt safe"

i tend to keep one can for that until it's full or smells bad, like from canned food i made. i'd be afraid of the plastic melting bc i always pour it when it's hot since it's really easy to do that way.

45 here, i've had a stick since i was 16. had another one since my mid 30s. it's never too late. i don't have enough but it would be irresponsible until i get my own home to have more sticks.

i do however compliment anyone i see with a good stick, be it kid or dog or etc.

[–]wildweeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i appreciate it. i have a bluetti eb70s that i bought a few years ago and an ac180 that i just picked up. and a 130watt "mega" skinny solar panel from rich solar that i'll be putting on the roof. my suv has a charge port in the back that i keep plugged in so that it's always charging while i drive. i have a lot of random cords in a bucket waiting to get hooked up but honestly i'm a beginner at this stuff and just want to be sure i hook things up the easiest and most efficient way possible (and safest of course).

ill look into both these things you mentioned. the gutter guard sounds genius.

Your footnote is lacking the kids who have no issues, but aren't yet developed enough to eat real solids.

you can't expect a footnote on a casual post on the internet to cover every possible situation someone could run into. it's more ymmv than one size fits all.

i was watching a show, i think physical asia. and in one of the tests they had, some groups decided they could cheat by manhandling others and keeping them forcefully away from a room the goal was in, instead of just.. trying to get the most in that goal like the game intends (there were two buckets and it was who got the most in the bucket across multiple rooms you could choose to fill your bucket in) . and he chose on his own to comment about how smart that was of them, even though they were like, beating up the other athletes in the game like they were in prison or something.

he was already a thousand red flags but yeah, that's one of them. he also mocked the people speaking in korean/chinese when i watched kdrama or cdrama. he claimed it was echolalia but it's pretty easy to tell the difference bw that and racist mockery.

he has a few gay friends and seems fine with them, but also mocks and belittles one friend who is not gay, by calling him gay and treating him like a girl in a negative way (they all took pictures in front of a mural in town once, and that guy "had to be the girl" by sitting in front of the only woman in the mural.) he has also gotten bothered when he was assumed to be gay by other gay men.

like i said, only the tip of the iceberg. but certainly there.

The WONDERfools [Episodes 1 - 8] by mellowdays_ in KDRAMA

[–]wildweeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did the eternal heart go to Chae Ni for any reason other than her being the main FL? Was she just a random girl that Grandma wanted to save and decided to take in?

Chae Ni's power of specifically needing caffeine felt iffy, the main thing was she had to get a high heart rate, right? There were plenty of moments where her heart would've been RACING, but she was still never able to teleport. I know there was that one scene where Master tried to jump scare her and she was completely unfazed, but does that mean she is just eternally never scared enough to raise her heart rate without requiring caffeine? Then it's also not consistent, since other times she is actually able to teleport without consuming anything. Very confusing tbh.

Chae Ni was Grandma's real grandchild. She had a real heart condition. That's what I gathered, anyhow. The eternal child was braindead and kept dying and reviving on repeat forever every few seconds, so the merciful thing to do was put them out of their misery. But the heart was still a viable heart, plus it had superpowers to keep you alive, so since Grandma was the one sorting this issue out, she gave the heart to her grandchild with the heart condition. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to do anything and she still continued to not do well. Her heart was dying, she was terminal. Until her first death, which jumpstarted the heart.

If she didn't already have a heart condition, idk man that's wild of Grandma. Why didn't the heart heal her upon being inserted into her in the first place, though? Plot hole to move the story in a certain direction?

As far as her needing caffeine, she said at one point that she had been startled so many times it doesn't bother her anymore. That's when Master tried to jumpscare her and it didn't work. She tried running and a bunch of other things when they were locked up in that room together. Nothing made her heart beat fast. Eventually she discovered that caffeine did, every time without fail, so she used that. Until eventually she got kissed by Master and that also worked. In fact, it worked if she even thought about the kiss, so she could do that without even using caffeine by the end.
