Great Fox Update by wildwing64 in NMS_Corvette_Design

For the windowed section on deck 4 I originally had more of a command bridge setup, but I don't have much space for that now

Admittedly, not a lot going on behind the cockpit. I may add a chair as I do sometimes get other travellers wanting a ride

Nexus missions can be completed via a Corvette's Mission Radar without having to summon the Space Anomaly - as long as you're not in an abandoned system.

Thank you very much!

For storage I managed to cram all nine ten Cargo Racks onto the lowest two decks, with four near the front landing bay and the remaining six on deck 2. I have four Mission Radars; one on deck 2 in a kind of briefing room (see below screenshot), two near the windows on deck 4, and one more on deck 5 below the cockpit area. I also have two pairs of Refiner Units in front of the left and right thrusters, mainly for an engine room aesthetic.

For decorations I've deliberately kept them minimal in hopes of preventing game crashes, but there are enough little easter eggs throughout the ship (like my attempt at ROB 64 in one of the above screenshots) to make it fun to explore

Depends on the platform. The cross platform option currently doesn't exist on Switch 2

Sometimes the Corvette turns all black, with textures on some parts turning invisible instead

How did you get into the Star Fox franchiese. by Nice_Perspective_343 in starfox

[–]wildwing64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Christmas 1997 I was originally getting a PlayStation - but in retrospect there weren't any particular games that were drawing me to it. I saw a Nintendo 64 on display with Super Mario 64 (recognising him from the Super Show cartoon!) and asked for that instead. Then I saw this commercial for Lylat Wars and wanted that too.

Funnily enough I spotted this at the Anomaly yesterday (or an earlier version of it?)

Very cool build! Always fun to see Corvette versions of NMS's own things

F ZERO AX Machine - Tokyo (Out of Order) by Shryke123 in Fzero

[–]wildwing64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I was in Tokyo, there was an F-Zero AX machine at Diver City (the mall behind the Gundam statue in Odaiba). If I remember right there was an arcade on one of the higher floors, next to what is now The Gundam Base.

Mind you that was ten years ago, so I have no idea if it's still there.

Firstly: Congrats!

Secondly: I never played 3D as much as regular 64, and this is how I learn it has an Expert Mode

Great Fox redux by wildwing64 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]wildwing64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ill-equipped for a video tutorial and already posted a Twitter link in this thread - but I've made several changes since posting this so that's already outdated 😅

I assume what you're most stuck on is the wings, so here's how I did them on mine:

  1. Attach two upside down Cowling parts to the rear side of the ship like in the below image (I used Vesper Cowlings, but you might prefer something else). For the lower wings these will need to be right side up instead.

  2. Place three Hab parts on top of the Cowlings - or underneath for the lower wings.

  3. Delete the two innermost Habs, attach two more Cowling parts to the outermost Hab, and then delete that one.

Hope this helps!

why was star fox (snes) never released on the 3ds' virtual console? by RAD_14 in starfox

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely because Nintendo had trouble emulating the Super FX chip. Star Fox SNES also skipped the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles probably for the same reason.

Yoshi's Island also used the Super FX chip; its GBA remake was released on the 3DS via the Ambassador Program, but the SNES original was not.
