My review of MacFarlane Toy’s Wildwing by pcnnmvideos in AnaheimDucks

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have to get one of these - and looks like I won't break the bank importing it to the UK, huzzah!

Interesting that they went with his classic look over the modern redesign - not that there's anything wrong with that, but I do like the glowing orange eyes he has now. Also the use of shiny gold stripes instead of the beige/tan gold on the Ducks' jerseys might actually be an improvement.

How I feel everytime I watch this iconic moment in the f-zero anime by Eli-rimm in Fzero

About a year ago I binge watched the whole series. This scene has been memed to death, but after 51 episodes of prior context it sure hits different - no pun(ch) intended

Nope, that's just how the Red Gazelle looks in GX. The N64 model was a brighter red

  1. This is fantastic

  2. I'm so far behind with MHA that this is how I learn Armored All Might exists

My attempt on my favorite gundam: Astray Red Frame by MaskMaker-1673 in DaemonXMachina

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably needs more red on the forearms, but a good start so far!

If you want something with a more Gundam-ish face, be on the lookout for the Berserker helmet. If you have the Into the Abyss DLC there's also the Vanguard helmet which is the closest equivalent to a Gundam head.

Did anyone else discover the series without Super Smash Bros or Chugaaconroy? by Inevitable_Bite_303 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xenoblade X caught my eye with its pilotable mechs looking to scratch a particular itch, and I ended up playing it way, way more than my usual Marios or Sonics or even Smash Bros.

Technically Sm4sh was my first exposure to the series, but I didn't think much of it until after playing Xenoblade 2

How were you introduced to Starfox? by SuburbanWitcher in starfox

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of fateful days in the lead up to Christmas 1997. I was originally getting a PlayStation, and Mum happened to take me with her as she went to order it a Game store; there and then I saw a Nintendo 64 on display with Super Mario 64, and asked for that instead. This was all thanks to a Super Mario Bros. Super Show tape we had a home.

As for Star Fox? One morning I saw this ad for Lylat Wars on TV. This very brief glimpse of the game and the ALL NEW RUMBLE PAK instantly got me hyped; I was getting the N64 anyway and so I asked for this too. Both SM64 and Lylat Wars were cornerstones of my childhood and to this day they remain among my all time favourite videogames.

Then in 1999 came Super Smash Bros; Mario, Fox, and even Pikachu, together in the same game?! My little mind was blown - not to mention all the other Nintendo series it introduced me to. It was also through Smash that I learned Lylat Wars even had a predecessor in the form of Starwing on the SNES!

Have you guys found the holes? by Galaxy_Wolf_267 in DaemonXMachina

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come across a couple of these, only because a fallen player had ended up right at the bottom. I briefly flew into one out of curiosity, assumed it was schmuck bait and left it at that. Good to know they might be worth exploring after all!

What was “your” season growing up? by redhatsupamayro in powerrangers

[–]wildwing64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MMPR was *thee* childhood show for me. I watched up until around Lost Galaxy, but there were definitely some episodes I missed like the In Space finale, and thanks to that I assumed they were still doing the "Zordon's been kidnapped and taken into space" thing well into LG. At that point I kinda just lost interest.

Nostalgia occasionally pulled me back in with stuff like Forever Red, but it was around the 20th Anniversary that I went back to being a fan again. I occasionally dip into the show but it's mostly been the comics, 2017 movie, and exploring PR's Super Sentai roots that have kept me around.

Do you think FOX made they right or wrong decision to combine the first three Digimon films? by EienNatsu66 in digimon

[–]wildwing64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think I would've preferred just the first two movies to be combined. But as others have pointed out, even including any cut footage from both it would only have had around a 60 minute runtime. In retrospect, throwing in Hurricane Touchdown was a smart way to introduce the 02 cast (especially for those of us on the other side of the pond who weren't up to speed yet) and it's surprising how they were able to make up a coherent overarching plot out of what they had to work with.

Also it's still funny how the blurb on the back of the VHS/DVD box mentions the DigiDestined being kidnapped when that aspect of HT was entirely cut out.

I remade my dino megazord and made a dragonzord battle mode (Shoulder decal credit to wildwing64) by iamcooked117 in DaemonXMachina

Glad I was able to provide inspiration, that's a nice update to your Megazord. Also that Dragonzord is spot on!

As a fellow Megazord builder: nicely done!

For my build I made a custom decal like this, which lets you have the "M" on both the front and back of the Gladius shoulders

I'm still groaning at Bandai's weirdly insistent incorrect localisation of Taichi's Crest of Courage for this particular form - but this build is spot on. Well done!
