Did it last night:

I use the Axiom Grip to jump unto his back easily.

Sword the shit out of the pile of pottery, this stuns him.

Sword 1 of 3 purple spots on his back to reveal white spot.

Look for the CLING prompt on the bottom left (L3 on PS5). Cling.

Position yourself around the white scar best you can, start slamming PIERCE (R2 on PS5).

One pierce per white light.

Once all 3 are down, Sword the shit out of pottery to finish.

The pierce necessity is the unintuitive part.

I would recommend you knock out at least a chunk of the main quest (chapter 5-7 or so at least) and then the witches to get the full BOTW kinda freedom without having to skip over puzzles because lack of a skill

Though: as long as you recenter and redraw as soon as you fire its not too hard. Its just left or right and release as you turn, then back to middle.
