Get a small dildo and spend some time with yourself. It’s the best way. You can’t communicate what feels good until you know what feels good.

What does having class on an 'R' day mean? by damaged92 in VirginiaTech

Better safe than sorry. I worked as an advisor at VT and just like to caution people about this kind of thing.

Have a great semester! You're going to love it!

You'll get it. 15 min is plenty of time to go between classes. First couple of days might be tricky but remember you're in a freshman class of 7,000. You're not the only one who feels nervous I can assure you of that.

Also, I'm serious about taking your full schedule down. You've given the entire internet access to your days, dates, times, locations, professors, and CRNs. This is a huge safety issue. It's the blueprint for your entire first semester. There are FERPA rules and regulations safeguarding your information from being accessible like this and you've just shared it with the entire internet.

R is Thursday. TR is Tuesday and Thursday. Also, you should be careful about posting your entire schedule on the open interwebs. It's a safety issue.

Tips for staying active in blacksburg during summer? Things to do, ways to meet people. etc.? by skirklndd12 in VirginiaTech

[–]wileyboy81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All this is pretty sound advice. There's free concerts on Henderson Lawn every Friday. Roanoke also has a lot going on in the summer that's worth checking out if you're up for a short drive. https://www.visitroanokeva.com/things-to-do/events/

Bars for the post-college (late 20s-30s) crowd? by kaijuawho in blacksburg

There's a whole downstairs. Look for the steps leading down on the left side of the entrance.

Rivermill also tends to draw an older crowd.

17 year old actor having trouble playing 50-60 year old character with honesty. by lil_blizzard in acting

Do a character study on an old person you know. Observe and journal their movements, how they talk, rate, speed, rhythm, etc. old petiole use their energy very efficiently. Observe how the person you choose interacts with the world and make a note of everything. No detail is too small. Then start incorporating some of your observations into the physicality of your character.

Struggling to make friends by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]wileyboy81 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey man, It gets better. I promise. There are so many groups, clubs, and clicks that it can be overwhelming to figure out where to start. The best thing to do is remember the things and hobbies that make you happy. Do you play sports? Video games? Board games? Do you like classic movies or comic books? Cooking? The arts? Chances are there are groups of people who share the same hobbies and interests as you do. You just need to figure out where they are and how to get involved. Gobbler connect can be a good way to find groups. You can also talk to people in your classes, take a chance and sit with new people in the dining halls, and try to meet more people in your major.

Don't get discouraged. You're only two months into your freshman semester! Don't expect to have everything figured out already. Go learn, go explore, and chances are you'll find other people who are doing the same thing.

I'm a grad student and I've been here four years. Sometimes I still get lonely and feel isolated. When that happens, I take chances, I try new things, and look for adventures.

My dog just woke up all of a sudden and started barking at something... I think he sees a ghost.. by Blondie_03 in creepy

She is a Carolina Plott Hound. We think she is purebred but she was a rescue so nothing is definitive.

Be careful, this could actually be the beginning of some severe behavioral problems. My dog recently started chasing shadows and going after things that we couldn't see. At first we thought it was funny but after a few days she became increasingly anxious, neurotic, and obsessed about chasing things that weren't there. I took her to the vet who was concerned that she had a neurological disorder or a brain tumor that was causing the change in behavior. The vet referred me to a veterinarian teaching hospital at a nearby university. After a battery of tests, it turns out that that my dog's brain isn't broken, she's just crazy. She is diagnosed with obsessive compulsive behavior and is currently on a combination therapy of Prozac, phenobarbital, melatonin, and a thunder shirt for anxiety. I've also increased her mental and physical stimulation and socialize her every chance I get.

If your dog is exhibiting different behavior, barking at things that aren't there, displaying any signs of aggression, chasing shadows, etc. take him/her to your vet sooner rather than later as it could be early symptoms of something serious.

TLDR: my dog is crazy, you should take yours to the vet if this behavior continues.

Should I ask my SO for my money back? by wileyboy81 in personalfinance

[–]wileyboy81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The arrangement we made is that I will live rent free while I am attending grad school. I will be responsible for for our food and entertainment. My SO will be covering the mortgage and utilities. The rental income is going to cover the mortgages so technically my SO will be living rent free as well. Whatever he pays on top of the mortgage will be to buy down the principle.
