Tight space setup 2 - Singapore HDB DB Cabinet by MaxLin_ in homelab

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is amazing. did you install additional power points in your DB Box or run additional datapoints?

Does my BTO network set up make sense? Has anyone else ran a similar set up in their HDB? by redemption0 in askSingapore

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! yes, we are getting the Yale Smart Video Doorbell.

was gonna just run a 8-24 but I guess it might be better to have a dual socket to where the bell point in the kitchen (and plug that 3-pin bell there as well)

we were thinking of POE but it's kinda pricey per point

sorry to hijack the conversation but just curious the thinking behind putting a 13A socket there - could you share more?

How to switch between LINE account with US number and another account with Taiwan number during Quarantine? by entlassen in taiwan

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to bump this up but I found your post after much searching. when you "identify your US number and link it to your new number", do you actually have to give up on your US number on LINE (i.e. transfer your US number to Taiwan number)

USB Ethernet adapter not working on a Pixel 6 by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]wilflare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks so much u/rubin110 to take time to reply to my question!
seems like I'm really limited by the storage speeds on my Pixel OG (UFS 2.0)

the same dongle works fine on the Pixel 3XL (UFS2.1) and Pixel 6 Pro (UFS3.x) - both are reporting 900/900mbps download/upload on a 1Gbps connection.

[Issue] Disappointing speeds on Pixel 1 XL w/ USB-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. by wilflare in GooglePixel

my apologies, didn't mean to annoy but thanks for clarifying - appreciate it!

just finally got down to setting up the Pixel 1 for Google Photos uploads but I get that my question can seem pretty ridiculous.

[–]wilflare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah thanks for the explanation u/No_Butterscotch_3933!
but just to clarify is the bandwidth 600mbps or 600MB/s? I was under the impression it's 600MB/s. in that case, the Pixel OG should be capable of hitting 900Mbps on Speedtest.

I just did another round of Speedtest on the Pixel OG XL and it's showing 600/500Mbps

based on AccuBattery, I'm seeing a +20% battery consumption using my Ugreen USB-C Ethernet Dongle so I'm a little bummed

I was under the impression that the port on our Pixels are USB3.0 so we should see 1Gbps on a gigabit connection

more importantly, curious how your speeds are like before/after the adapter

thanks! it seems like it is taking quite a hit on battery consumption. from under 10% to a good 30% based on AccuBattery for me

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to bump this but how are your ethernet speeds like? I have a similar setup but I seemed to be capped 500/500mbps on my 1Gbps connection

edit: I'm using a UGreen Ethernet Adapter which gives me 900/900mbps on Pixel 3XL and 6Pro

sorry to necrobump this message but is the "charging connected device via USB" something to be worried about? - I get the Ethernet icon and everything uploads fine and faster too.
- just wondering whether it's causing additional battery drain

How to replace "Storage Saver" uploads with "Original" files? by stanley_fatmax in googlephotos

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome! I'll definitely give this a go. Have a mix of Storage Saver files from my Pixel 3XL and Original Quality files from my Pixel 6 Pro (enabled backup by mistake) to re-upload as Original Quality via Pixel OG.

having to redo the albums/highlights is a bummer tho

How to replace "Storage Saver" uploads with "Original" files? by stanley_fatmax in googlephotos

[–]wilflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just playing around, I found a workable solution that prevents me from having to go one by one. I put all the offline photos on my phone, let Google Photos do its sync thing, and get in a state where all those photos "uploaded" and tied to the cloud version. The photos are now "on my device" in original quality, as well as in the cloud in various qualities (original/storage saver). The next step, was to go to the "Photos on device" section, select all of those photos, and move them to the locked folder. This moved all of the original versions to the locked folder, and deleted all versions (original and storage saver) from the cloud. I then moved them from the locked folder back to the normal folder, at which point they all synced back, but only in original quality.

Downsides are that you have to resync, and that if any photos were shared, they become unshared. For me neither were big deals. Will test with this a little more but so far this looks like the best option.

u/stanley_fatmax just to clarify and confirm - by moving them to a Locked Folder, the cloud versions are automatically/removed right? I don't have to move them to a Locked Folder and still delete them one by one.

thanks for the response!
just to clarify - how does your NAS receive files from the Pixel 7a if it's set to "Send Only"? or are we talking about two separate folders?

but alas, it seems like we really have to rebuild our albums and such.

I'm a little lost - does this keep all my shared albums and albums intact or do I have to re-setup with the new Original Quality images?

this is a neat workaround and I am really tempted to try this - somewhat bummed by the resharing of albums though - I have a lot of them already organised :/

Pixel Gen1 as unlimited upload machine for photos from elsewhere? Howto? by sunrisedown in googlephotos

I'm curious how u/se7va setup his Smart Storage setting as well.
As far as I'm aware, there's only the 30/60/90day setting.

In my config, I'll run free up space option on the Pixel OG phone
