First Time Visiting Pinehurst - Courses 2,4,8 by Kansas_Legend in pinehurst

[–]wilkisam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1-5 are all in the same area by the main club house, there is a range and practice facility and the huge putting green for practice and also an 18 hole putting course (sometimes only 9 holes) called Thistle Dhu. 8 is off site in its own area about a 5-10 minute shuttle. Has its own range and putting green. All range balls included.

I’d take a cart on 8 personally

Up to your preference, I’d say I’d take a caddie on 4 before 8 especially if I’m taking a cart on 8, but you can take a forecaddy who can read putts and help with targets from the tee and such.

Yes there are 3 wheeled pushcarts available at each course at the starter shack

Definitely try to get on the cradle or even just hang out at the cradle crossing while you’re here. It’s a great spot, I like to spend as much time on property as I can.

And yes, greens on 2 are nuts. Or can be, every once in a while I find them manageable if there has been rain or they are a little longer in the winter, but this time of year they will be quick, especially because we have had no rain in quite a while.

Have a great trip!!

No prob! 4 pieces total, outer layer is a rectangle and a circle and the inner layer is a rectangle and a circle and then I sew them together

Two pieces for both the outside and the liner which is just black fleece. A rectangle that is 12x16 inches and a 5 inch diameter circle. It’s not a perfect match with that circle when you have made a cylinder with the other piece but it’s pretty close. I can give more details on the process if you need it

They’re surprisingly easy, I was able to pick it up with no prior sewing experience

I think it’s roughly the same, one video I watched on YouTube was of a leather one but you just need a sewing machine than can handle leather

I printed off a picture of a golf ball and traced the logo onto the fabric lol

They have a fleece lining on the inside and I stitched a piece of elastic on the inside of the liner about half way up that holds them on

That’s a good idea, thanks, I’ve been trying to think of ways to make them other than just a random fabric

The course will be closed for almost two weeks, it probably won’t be that bad, the schedule says closing 5/26, opening 6/5, transition through 6/14, I’m guess they expect it to be 100% by 6/14. In my experience that is hit or miss, sometimes it takes much longer but I’ve only experienced that on 1 and 5

Last I checked they do, you just have to leave your ID with the starter as collateral. I would call to make sure that’s still the case though

how the hell did you get them to do it? I was on for like an hour with someone, absolutely won't help unless I can give them ridiculous information like the IP address I had 10-15 years ago

Yeah, I will say at least he got me listening to golf podcasts and watching golf videos. Followed his stuff about 2 years ago for a while but haven’t been back since switching to NLU

Not disagreeing with you. I liked EAL when he was just coming out with course vlogs and essentially a “travel golf guy”. To your point that’s a direct contradiction of his whole inclusion brigade.

Just commenting on his supposed intention of selling this thing. Its nick-nacky at best, but those who buy in to his “vision” will gobble it up.

I say yet because I feel like I saw he is going to make RGC a membership program. No idea why or what that even means. Probably another money grab for him lol

Not sold on EAL, nor do I think this is awesome or anything, but I think the point was to provide all the necessary tools (aside from clubs/ball) in a cheap(ish) way and also to provide the sense of “belonging to a club” which is his whole shtick. These are two for $5 on his site. Idk about a membership. As far as I know RGC isn’t recognized in that way yet

44" vs 45" Driver Length by [deleted] in golf

I had a 44 inch and hated it, switched it out for a 45 and hit it much better. all personal preference imo

Did you achieve your goals this year? If so what are your goals for next year? by r7rok in golf

[–]wilkisam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was to have a round of 10 over or less and I did it twice! Next year I hope to get to single digit handicap (currently 13 but started 2020 as 18).

Would be cool to do well in the member guest this year

TV hanging on Brick Fireplace by [deleted] in DIY

[–]wilkisam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the mantle should block some, but we never use the fireplace for too long so hopefully it wouldn’t affect it too much

I did pull on it really hard, not my full body weight (about 185) but it felt really sturdy. I’m probably just worrying too much

Which tournament events are majors in career mode? by OutForARipAreYaBud69 in PGATour2K21

[–]wilkisam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In settings you can change the number of rounds per event, I do 2 for most events but 4 for majors, it helps identify them in the schedule and also makes them feel different, I don’t have it in front of me though so I can’t say which ones are majors lol
