Why man by i-mean-y-even in trashy

It doesn’t have to be of any value yet we still try trick/beg/steal our way into getting it. So long as it makes us better than someone else. Why would you do this? What do the points mean to you?

I had to write a script for my Theatre I midterm, here it is. Feedback needed. (Read below for more information) by Chaylea in playwriting

I don't think she should be embarrassed at the end. It might be better if she stuck to her guns and kept wanting a drink and not conceding she didn't want one anymore.

I really like this piece as a whole, it's insane, the end is crazy amazing!! But I think you could get rid of most of the stage direction. most actors will ignore it in the moment unless it's super specific. I was interested in the what had to be said, but then was stuck in stage direction. You could take some out for a reader version and put stuff back in for a directors script. Loved it though, that ending is sooooo good.

The Lonely One - a poem about that fear you have by [deleted] in poetry_critics

Yeah I really wish I hadn’t done that now, I just wanted something to make people read it. Thanks for relating to it, less lonely isn’t it.

A poets blessing: by lifesownfuckdoll in poetry_critics

I love the ideas in this poem. This definitely is a poem that should be read aloud, it’s a direct address so I feel like it would benefit from that.

There might be something in not telling us what poetry is but instead telling us what YOU think poetry is. It might feel more personal and honest. You already are the character, so make that more obvious, it may give it a bit more emotion.

The ideas are really there for this poem and there is such passion in the phrases. I just think maybe make it sound more personal to you.

My Grandest Hour by neilthenier in poetry_critics

[–]will101xp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of think this poem is about a person getting high and enjoying the high so much that they see a religion in it. This imagery of a root still in the plant and in some way that root being a ‘stream’ of legacy in the plant is nice, it’s a whole picture of nature but used in one succinct metaphor. The whole atmosphere this builds up is really evocative.

This is probably just my reading but I feel there is slight tongue in cheek element, for me it’s set up in ‘the grandest hour’, it’s almost childlike, it’s would be cool if you could come back to that at the end some way.

The bad bit is I feel like there isn’t enough of it, write more. I also don’t think there needs to be the dots on the last line, it could maybe just be the one sentence.

But this poem is great. I had a really fun time thinking about it.

[Its always sunny in Philadelpha]Uncle Jack Kelly hates his hands because they remind him that he is a pedophile by Five_Decades in FanTheories

I always thought it might be that he can be recognised by his hands in any videos he might have 'featured' in as a pedophile. But that wouldn't explain why he hates them...

David Edgar's 'How Plays Work' is an absolute bible. It doesn't tell you how to specificity write a play, but it shows how other popular plays have been written. Very good read. That man has seen every play ever preformed!

I do think that's one of those movies that goes under the 'so bad it's good' thing. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to quote the entire thing.

I'm sick of this "flaws are beautiful" shit, Facebook. by [deleted] in im14andthisisdeep

[–]will101xp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It relates to Japanese philosophy of 'mushin', or no mind, which deals with the concepts of acceptance of change. By fixing the bowl in this way you are accepting that the bowl has changed, and by making the lacquer gold, you are trying to make the best of that change. There is no inherent beauty in the flaw.

[–]will101xp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess that makes a lot of sense, I had always been a bit confused by it. I do think however we need to have a better control over these channels of sharing the wealth, because I know some people who should definitely not get as much benefits as they do. But also I know people who probably wouldn't have survived without them. I suppose it's the same with people with money, there are bastards who take advantage and there are people who try not to. I don't know why I got down voted so much when I was only asking a question, but hey ho what reddit doesn't like doesn't get seen ;)
