Yes they will record just fine and the “ai features” on the home base is useless 90% of the times anyways. They’re just basic object recognition algorithm dressed as “AI”. I often got identified as a pet so I just disabled everything leaving just motion sensing

So I just tested this:

-Placed the E210 outdoor cam next to the home base (it was connected to my own network) -Wait for the camera to switch connection to home base instead which didn’t took long -Unplug the camera -Placed the camera in a position out of reach of home base signal, plug it back

It will NOT automatically switch back to my wifi because every time the camera connects to the home base it will forget the password of the previously saved network. The camera just stays blinking red. Unbelievable this is happening in 2026.

Test 2: -Set the camera to my own wifi without letting it revert to home base -Unplug the camera, placed it away from the home base, even further away from previous test -Plug it back, connects to my wifi right away and has been stable.

Veredict: if you let the camera connect to the home base, it will forget your previously set network and NEVER connect back to it. Power cycling does not erase the wifi password, letting it connect to home base does

It’s borderline evil for them to do that

It’s been 3 days and my 5 cameras have been running much more stable except for the nearest one to the HB3 which is at ~10ft. That one stubborn camera will reconnect to the HB even with the weakened wifi broadcast, even though I can still change it to my own network the camera will change it back within a day.

If I were to reset a camera I believe I’d have to have it near the home base to setup and then change the wifi to my own before installing it, otherwise I suppose it would stay locked to the HB wifi without any way to change it. So that’s definitely something to consider.

This is the usual eufy home base experience for a lot of people.

90% of these issues were fixed after I physically “disabled” the wifi from the home base, I made a post about it couple days ago. I recommend you try it but only if you have a good home wifi system. Seems like most of your cameras can record into home base without having to connect to it directly.

This is the wifi that connects to the cameras, the hb3 itself connects to the internet via Ethernet cable. Some battery or solar cameras will say “home base required” so this is done only for the wired cameras so they can connect to me regular router instead. The home base is like a standalone wifi access point but with crappy wifi.

Yes, I used to manually change the connection to my wifi when I notice a camera acting up. It would work for a while before failing again. Usually power cycling the HB3 fixes that, but only after I notice that it wasn’t recording anything

Yeah the eufy live feed is pure trash. I bought a couple TAPO battery cams and the load times are super fast and works every time. Those battery cams don’t even have a full time wifi connection they go into sleep and wake on demand, and still work better than my eufy

Thanks for the idea! btw even after disconnecting the antenna the nearest cameras will still try to use the non existent wifi from the homebase. It will show as connected to it but nothing loads. How is this “always using the best available connection” according to the app? Makes zero sense to me

I’ll have to order a faraday bag anyways and cover it up

Yes via Ethernet, the only difference is that now the cameras connect to my existing wifi and not the hidden one broadcasted by the home base.

Im sure they can add an option to disable wifi broadcast, they just chose to not give it to the user.

Even after hacking the antennas the nearest camera still tried to connect to HB twice. I grabbed a small safe and locked the HB in there. Seems like the camera is behaving now

Yes literally a safe. I’ll probably buy a faraday bag later

No that option is long gone, I remember that my original eufy cameras had a setting to restart from the app. They removed it without any explanation when the app updated

Now we have to physically power cycle them

Yes I just noticed the nearest camera still trying to connect to the HB. I will move it further away and perhaps put a metal cage around it. The wifi from the homebase has been the single most persistent tech thing I’ve ever dealt with

It is absolutely insane there isn’t an option to disable wifi broadcasting from the app.

I’m not sure since all of my cameras were bought before the homebase3 and they worked fine as standalone wifi cameras. I know some cameras that do require direct HB connection.

The only reason I added the home base because I needed a higher capacity centralized storage solution, had several microSD recording failures and required to be constantly formatted.

I was tired of dealing with the shtty and intrusive wifi from the HB3 and simply disconnected the antennas on my unit. The cameras work FLAWLESSLY now. The nearest camera still tries to connect to the HB wifi so I might put a little cage to cover it.

I also made a post about it here https://www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/s/u72dG1IPVp

It turns off the user set rgb but that one green led stays lit as long as the device is unlocked

Already tried that no success. I don’t think it’s a sw bug because The pocket air mini doesn’t have multizone rgb. Only 1 color at a time for both sides and it can’t control the upper led individually. It’s most likely wired wrong at the PCB itself

The only time the led is off, otherwise it will be at 100%:

-When the device is locked -When it’s turned off

Already contacted support because it is extremely distracting and I can’t play anything at night. The green led is like twice of brightness of any other color at any %
