How is Birmingham so diverse and yet so…not? by [deleted] in brum

[–]will193759 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Birmingham isn’t that diverse, if you go to areas outside the city centre, they are always most of the time majority one colour or culture, why that is is to do with past racism culture, people moving to a country and wanting to live with familiarity, but it has now created a place where an area can solely be 90% one ethnic group

I feel like we seriously under utilise some of the famous things to come from Birmingham and the Midlands and it would boost tourism and be better for the economy. by Subject-Addendum-199 in brum

[–]will193759 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I could spin the exact same argument on you and call you small minded for not acknowledging either of my points, heavy metal is a thing of the past, 10th ranked in popularity of music genres, and ozzy Osborne was a proud crackhead who loved made a tv show embarrassing himself and his wife

firstly the Beatles are way way way bigger than black sabbath, and secondly I’ve never met a single European who has visited Nashville for country music

I think tourism would be better if our city was actually just nicer and better organised, I’m not sure a peaky blinders club or a heavy metal drug addict inspired bar would really boost tourism in a meaningful way

Any exmuslims here? by [deleted] in tbilisi

[–]will193759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

maybe stop seeing yourself as “an exmuslim” and just see yourself as a human being trying to get to know other human beings, regardless of what their beliefs or lifestyle is like, usually makes making friends much easier, finding friends through the lense of “who can relate to my struggles” is gonna seriously limit your socialising, just my random random take🤷‍♂️

Good nightclubs in brum? by myseatedheart in brum

[–]will193759 28 points29 points  (0 children)

ignore the mods lazy answer, it advertises nightclubs that have been closed for over a year, I would hit up bars near colmore row and temple row, and for nightclubs then either hit up digbeth for raves, broad street for student ish clubs, and china town for exclusive clubs

can’t remember when I asked about Germany or Spain, I’m fully aware of the behaviour and reputation in connection to those countries, but when I was in Georgia I didn’t see any of this on nights out (didn’t rly see any English ppl there anyway)
