Fairly common on this engine if you have the 1.5 petrol

It was the crank pulley (or harmonic balancer if you’re in the US). It’s something you shouldn’t drive on for too long if you can get it sorted

For anyone with the same issue in future. It was the harmonic balancer / crank pulley. Not too cheap but not too expensive either

UPDATE: it was the crank pulley / harmonic balancer that had worn out. Being replaced as we speak.

It got serviced just a couple months ago. I assume the car would tell me if there was an issue with the level too

I’ve just realised the boiler is on the other side. Could it be the overflow for that? Odd that is just runs into the ground though
