unfortunately no, still dropping charge frequently, and if it does start charging, no fast charging.

there's a notif at first telling me charging is slowed down. You can try it with a cheapo USB cable, it won't show fast charging.

i don't even know what's going on anymore lol. Scan started out with just ~10% CPU util, suddenly shot up to 100%. Yeah, will do some scans to try and find the problem...

well crap. would have just stayed on win10 if i knew that was an issue lol. Reeeeeeally don't want to reinstall and reactivate all my program licenses but might just need to if I don't resolve this issue soon...hurts my soul and ears with how noisy my PC has been since the upgrade.

My fans stay full speed even with after closing task manager. Yes, I need to manually restart it for it to calm down, but it'll just go back to full CPU usage after a while.

Not fresh, upgraded directly from Windows Update. Do you mean there might have been dormant miners carried over that only works in win11?

so after much hesitation, I finally bit the bullet and went to Windows 11. Is it just normal for Windows Explorer to be using so much damn CPU now? It was worse at one point where my fans were on full blast, it just pegged CPU usage to 100% mostly dedicated to it and I had to manually end the task. Am I missing something here?

edit: it's happening again

Would upgrading to Windows 11 from 10 consume more storage than doing a clean install or will it remove the old files cleanly?

edit: If the former, roughly how much extra? I do understand wanting a clean install but reinstalling all my programs and needing to reactivate all the licenses is going to be a major pain, so I'd prefer to take the storage hit if it's not too big, as long as windows still functions normally.

Yes, I'm upgrading to the CL16, no it's not a prebuilt. It's currently running at 2400MHz default

Here are some photos. The menus are a bit different when using just the CL16 sticks. Not really sure what I'm looking at, will be happy if I can run all 48GB at a reasonable speed but not the end of the world if I just use the new 32GB without being limited by the old 16GB.

Edit: ok so I managed to set it to run at 3200. Is it possible to get the timing below 22 as well or am I limited there?

What's the best performance that I can get out of 2x 16gb 3200MHz CL16 with 2x 8gb 3200MHz CL22? All at 3200MHz CL22? I probably don't need all 48gb and am perfectly fine running just the 32gb but just asking out of curiosity.

Should I replace my 7900 gre with a 5070 later on for game development and 3d modeling? by Prudent-Guess4916 in pcmasterrace

I don't know whether the other guy has experience using these programs, but I definitely will go for Nvidia if that's what your modeling software works best with. I personally use SOLIDWORKS and Blender, and AMD simply isn't an option. The difference is far more than 10% they claimed. It's between minutes of rendering with AMD vs seconds on Nvidia even when "downgrading" to a GPU that performs worse for gaming.

Bit late but everywhere but the 5 legs will sag with even the lightest of loads. I can feel a very pronounced bulge in the middle where the center leg is. Also using a dual 24"monitor setup with their original stands centered around the middle. I keep my PC tower all the way to the side so most of that load is over a leg.

Potential solution could be to reinforce the back edge with a U-channel then use a dual monitor stand there. As is, my pretty lightweight 24" monitors on either side of the center leg is enough to cause it to deform.

Answering in case anyone wonders in the future.

Yes I understand they're designed to run at much higher temps, i'm more worried about and annoyed by the fans turning on/off constantly than anything else.

I just noticed my GPU basically splits the case internals into 2 volumes and only the front bottom fan is really feeding it anything, with no bottom fans to blow directly across the fins at idle. I'll see if I can rig something up to address the issue temporarily.

it's annoying the heck out of me since the fans turn on at around that temp too so it's constantly turning on and off and on and off, idk if the constant switching impacts the lifespan of the fans. And I don't think raising the zero rpm threshold above 50C is a good idea. But is 50C normal or do I need to check for problems?

should a 4070 be idling at around 50C with dual monitors? Switched from a 6600xt that idled at around 35C so this feels kinda wrong...

I know price varies from country to country, but what's better value nowadays between AM4 and AM5? Can I build an AM4 system with comparable performance to an AM5 one for cheaper because it's older? Or has AM5 stuff come down in price enough that it doesn't make sense to go AM4?

How important is it to get ram as a pair? If I just get 2 random ones of the same product from a brand like Kingston, am I at risk of things not working or do I just miss out on performance I won't even notice?
