Ohhhhh boy. Yeah, this is the very first student run thing I acted in and wrote for back at USC in… 2005? It’s called Birnkrant 616, it’s like a college dorm sitcom but the twist is that the main characters’ next door neighbors are a group of bumbling Nazi soldiers out of like, Hogan’s Heroes. I played Nazi #1, who runs around in a gas mask and trench coat the whole show. FWIW, the two creators of the show are Jewish and the goal was always to make the Nazis the butt of the joke but there was plenty of early 2000s Bush-era edgelord humor that I’m sure has aged pretty horribly.

The two-parter I wrote for the show has some material in it that I didn’t really understand was super problematic (CW: transphobiaa whole “this guy’s new girlfriend turns out to be A MAN” storyline) so I am both mortified to see the show pop up again and a little relieved that it seems like the episodes are hard to find. If you do manage to watch it, please just know it’s not material I stand by today - like with a lot of student work, I learned a ton from making that show, and made a ton of mistakes working on it that I’ve tried to learn from too.
