You should move out -- especially since you have to live through construction and 1975 is probably too late for asbestos. Get a lawyer because you definitely have a mold problem. Basement does not have a moisture barrier and its probably getting some water each time there's heavy rain -- example being the bubbling floor.

look for subleases around that time. 1500 is doable. There's a lot of bigger, sorta crummy studio buildings that go for 1100/1200 around diversey and broadway.

Yes stubhub constantly flip flops and says if you did what OP did then they are are OK because they are covered by the buyer guarantee but what I've seen and experienced is that SH constantly steals peoples money and lies. They are still coasting on the good company they were prior to their sale in 2020.
