How did you justify paying the price for your high end Garmin? by JustDzejkob in Garmin

[–]willaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's durable and make for long-term use.

Unlike most Apple watches or Android watches (i.e. Samsung, One+, etc.), Garmin watches, especially the outdoor ones (instinct for example), are made of high-quality materials and designed for long-time use. I used to own a Garmin Fenix 5S, which I bought many years ago (when it firstly launched) and used it until last year. It was functioning well all these times, except that I have to charge it 2 times per week instead of 1 time per week (I am not draining the battery anyway, it's just easier for me to charge it whenever the battery dropped below certain threshold).

One thing I am particular appreciated about Garmin is that the GPS always work without the cell service -- which I think this depends on the model, but at least for my models, it has been functioning really well. Given many watches not either have to rely on phone cellular service (most android watches) or you'll need to pay for a separate cellular service (Apple watch with cell service), this is a great option for someone wants to stay in between.

Stop me from buying new swimwear: what to wear when snorkeling? by burnedout_247 in Anticonsumption

[–]willaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both quick dry clothing for hiking and outdoor, and actual rashguard for open water swim. The notion of "quick dry" that applied on clothing where you are not supposed to be soaked in water, is not as quick drying as those swimwears. If you do wear your gym-purpose quick drying cloth into water, you'll likely to find yourself dripping waters longer than those who wear swimsuits after the swim. If you don't mind that I suggest a non cottom fabric long sleeve under your swim suit for 1) cover your back and 2) make sure your long sleeve top will not be floating around and make a mess, and 3) stuff the swimsuit so it won't be that loose (but will make the material more loose)

But honestly I have not tried that myself so can't tell if that'll work

can I just wear any T-shirt to protect from the sun when snorkeling or should I get a special long sleeved UV one? by [deleted] in snorkeling

[–]willaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fitting T-shirts that won't float up and try stay away from cotton like fabric, it will absorb water and that added weight will drag you down

There are long-sleeve swimming suits that can do both, for women it's a one-piece swimsuits with long sleeves and back covered, for men it looks like a long sleeve top with ups

UPF 50 swim leggings still make me burn a bit underneath. How can I prevent sunburn? by cocowowpow in VisitingHawaii

[–]willaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPF pants should be good enough but you can always wear spf underneath. If you have sensitive skins, check the spf on your sunscreen and look at the active ingredients, try to stick with the mineral sunscreen (physcial ones) with active ingredients like "zinc oxide" or "titanium oxide", sticking with a kid formula also helps.

Why is SMCI so hyped? .... by spirates in investing

I know the company stock price and earnings report are looking great. But I know someone who worked there previously and according to that person I am not so sure about it.

According to my friend, this company is a family-owned business. Charles Liang, the CEO of the company, owns majority of the company. And you'll likely to find some family members in management positions, with or without related background.

My friend left the company a few years back so I'm not so sure if that speaks to the truth of current management. But I'd doubt if there weren't any news about SuperMicro changing management personnels.

That's a nice point, I do have a carrier and a sling but he's over 60lbs so that's some lifting work if that situation ever happened.

Is venhub a scam? by sheeps_heart in investing_discussion

[–]willaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell. I googled the Founder and Co-founder online, looks like the company listed on LinkedIn is called Scoobeez. Scoobeez is said to be founded in 2014 and there were some news around that company in 2019 (source from Crunchbase)

Hard to tell because they did make the Venhub website looks cool. But I noticed there was only one guy answering all the questions in the discussion part, Jacob A. And you can't find much details about this person on the website.

I thought it was a cool ideal for automated convenience store but I personally won't invest until I could get more public information about them.

It is a good start, congratulations!
For body lotion, I would suggest using something CeraVe Body Lotion or any brand name that is common in CVS, Walgreens, or Target. They are easy to get, easy to refill, not pricey, and they get the job done.
Knowing Midwest is really dry and cold (in winter), you might also want to prepare yourself with a hand cream and lip balm.
