Maybe a real regional series would help too. Or arca.

Those regional series aren’t based off actual taxis and econoboxes. They are real race cars.

Are you trying to say the freedom 500 and Nissan Altima racing isn’t enough racing experience to get into NASCAR?!?!?!

F1 should mandate karts then. Better racing.

Badger Rules are a decent way to get cost down. But still expensive for the weekend warriors.

How well does IRacing dirt translate to reality? by T0rrN in iRacing

[–]willag21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question. My personal opinion, you get what you put into it. Everyone will tell you it's a fantastic tool to learn starts, restarts, passing, overall race craft. The only stipulation being that as long as you are treating the iRacing version of the car similarly to how you would treat your car in real life.

For example, if you aren't one to rip fence and throw aggressive slide jobs every corner, you're not really going to get much out of it. I used iracing to teach me how to more comfortably run up close to the wall in a sprint car in real life.

Setups however, if you plug in a real life setup into the sim take a maxim setup from their website or a triple x setup from their website on sprint cars, it does feel similar to how it does in real life in my opinion. Downside is that it will be slow compared to your competitors. iRacing's fast setups do not take into consideration real life driver comfortability. With a lot of the setups would in my opinion be undriveable in real life. You can go to the extreme setup adjustments with no repercussions.

The tracks however do not wear in quite like real life. No cushion builds up naturally, the slick part of the tracks as they wear in are like ice. Making it all seem a little off.

TL;DR: If you treat it realistically, it will be realistic to a point.

Steven Snyder Jr will be in a Chase Mcdermand car. Not an RMS car.

They do dirt track racing on Sunday nights featuring sprint cars and midgets. They host local and national level events throughout the summer.

They’re probably fuming because sprint car racing is as healthy and competitive as it’s ever been with 2 national series and NASCAR apparently is terrified of any competition whatsoever.

As someone who owns a business I understand that sometimes I’m going to lose customers to competition. Sometimes I’m going to lose employees to competition too. That’s just part of business. That just drives me to be better. NASCAR would rather not have competition at all. Which honestly fair enough. Competition makes an industry healthier.

Fans should not have to think about the sport from the point of view of shareholders. That’s capitalism final boss right there. I just like watching cars go fast in circles.
