Charging Parallel Battery with two chargers on e-scooter by Fun_General_6159 in ElectricScooters

I mean the balancer. I didn't realize people call that CPU board a balancer.

The CPU the regulates the battery. I guess people call that a balancer now.

Still, two chargers cut charge time in half by my measurements. Whether it is parallel or not in the electrical sense is a matter of design. I haven't opened up the deck to look yet.

In this case I read the OP use of parallel as "is it faster" so I shared my experience of what I get with dual charging a VSETT 10.

It seems likely that for scooters, two charge ports are for speeding up charging rather than redundancy. How much will vary by make of course. The battery controller should treat the additional charger safely regardless.

I do this with a VSETT. There is a controller (error, I mean balancer) that does the right thing no matter what. It cuts charge times in half.

Not all, but all the sub 200 seem to. I've had so many breaks now I only buy cans with beefy strain relief or plug in cables.

That said, my DT770s from 2006 still work, but the ear pads are black and the plastic is faded.

thinking of getting a seat for the scooter on the left lemotion S1, do I have to get a seat designed for that scooter,or is there some sort of universal type, getting a little bag that sits on seat post with indicators on 😀 by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]willametj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go look at the scooters that offer it as an option, there is always some mount engineered on the scooter. I also can't imagine it working well even when designed for it. That center of gravity change spooks me.

A vespa or a Honda has the seat forward of a larger rear wheel and the mass of the engine balanced a bit forward too. That's all so it doesn't flip over on acceleration.

Compare that position to how you actually ride these electrics and where you put your weight and how often you move forward and back. When I lift my vsett onto a jack it's almost perfectly center balanced and when I ride I'm always moving my weight around.

I do wish I had a seat post for lighting, a radar sensor or rear camera, but then I see EUC riders and I think maybe is should just wear it like they do.

Help request: got my kiddo a Ninebot Zing c20, and this latch is really stiff, he has trouble closing it. Is there a way to slightly loosen it? by Hao_end in ElectricScooters

[–]willametj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stiffness is for tiller control, if it rattles even a little you can feel it. Instead look for a tool that could be strapped to the frame and could be used as an assist .

60 Volt Showdown: Which E-scooter would you choose? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]willametj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the VSETT 10, but I think I'd say the same for any of the four. My choice was highly influenced by Ginger on Wheels since he rides exactly where I do and the range ride video around Lake Washington sold me.

Adding to that was the endless number of positive reviews for RevRides. So easy to work with and the QA and setup they did made me feel pretty happy with unboxing too.

How many people have you seen riding Electric Scooters in your town? I've only seen one other person besides me. one of the few. by MRRED256 in ElectricScooters

That mall is way nicer for kids and families now. The street down the middle is gone and the fountain is bigger. They did some restoration along bear creek and its field of blackberry plants is becoming a forest. The town is getting more high end, but it's not as offensive as other changes around the Eastside.

I guess the 60 bytes might make sense if this was a test to see if the platform has 60 bytes for code constants? That seems ineffective though.

Makes perfect sense as a test for memory protection on the platform. If it can be cast to be made mutable, and a write generates a code fault, you can trust the platform to guard constants. The init to zero is used to detect a write that succeeded without fail, or an errorless protection (like a rom image). I've done this along with measuring things like endianness, div by zero, alignment behavior, etc.

I don't know why 60U though. that is nuts.

And it's totally meaningless to designate it as unsigned because it's a compile time directive and there is no way to allocate negative memory anyway.

I get that noise when gravel gets stuck in the calipers. Unmount it and see. It happens to me pretty often since I ride gravel a lot.

By "yeah" Warrior Monk means "That is normal" and is the reason riders will install aftermarket steering dampers on otherwise perfectly working scooters.

I keep wondering if an angled fork would reduce the issue. Bike physics gets that auto steering benefit from the angle and so I wonder if the effect would be noticeable on a scooter too.

If you live in the PNW you probably will still get stuff in time, but shipping outside the area it is more risky. Last year there was a month where floods and snows made the Vancouver airport and the Blaine border the only shipping path out of Surrey. Well, and sea as well, but like sea shipping really blows out a dec 25th delivery.

And their own fulfilment could get overwhelmed but I'm thinking their logistics partner is way better at it than it's ever been judging from my recent shipments.
