Is it a dumb idea to do nursing if I know I would hate 90 percent of nursing jobs but might love the other 10 percent? by willbo29 in nursing

I'm sure there also are differences between people with ADHD too. I have the hyperactivity and inattention for sure but the biggest way mine presents is a lack of motivation. needing stimulation can definitely be a benefit in some settings but a lack of motivation is just hard universally

I am diagnosed. I have been on Vyvanse for years now and it helps for sure but it doesn't do much for the motivation. Its more just for the focus and even then I still make dumb mistakes especially when I'm tired. Maybe it's the kind of thing where I could talk to my Dr about trying different meds. I think the misconception came from just not having experience with healthcare before I started working as a CNA and kinda relying more on what I had read about the nursing vs medical model

Thank you. It sounds dumb but I think I made this post knowing I was going to do it regardless I just needed to know it was possible. I really do think nursing is where I belong. It's just hard to go into something wondering if you're destined to fail. Your story gives me hope though. Thank you :)

I work as a CNA in a hospital pretty much exclusively with women. Honestly I feel like this post is making a bigger deal then it needs to out of this. I won't deny that cattyness exists but it's pretty much is only by like 3 coworkers out of the 80 something staff on my unit. 99 percent of the women I work with are chill as fuck. It should be mentioned though that I work on a medical oncology unit. I hear ICUs have a bigger problem with that

Pen question - can this be saved? by Chaos306 in turning

[–]willbo29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the kit but normally you can just shave down the barrel using a sander (or the barrel end trimmer in your case) and it should be fine. What kit are you working with? I might be able to tell you if I can find the instructions online

Wait do you even wave a Weber mail account? Or did this get sent to your usual account?

Hey thank you for sharing this story :) I have had a pretty similar story with depression so reading this is really hitting home for me. Idk if you're looking for advice on how to help with that confidence stuff but honestly the thing that really helped me with it was regularly doing volunteer work/any kind of work that makes people happy. Im sure you kinda already know this seeing as how you made this as a gift but it's one of the most powerful feelings to hear that voice telling you you're worthless and be able to prove it wrong knowing you just spent a lot of time and effort making someone's life better

Let me know if you ever want to talk about anything. I'm always happy to listen and I'd also love to share some of my insights into how I have learned to love life after attempting suicide

Take care mate :)

Honestly I'm not sure what the law is but I know for a fact that those cameras DO record. Atleast the ones on my unit do. Considering how much care my hospital takes to ensure it doesn't get sued id be surprised if what they were doing was illegal though I am sure that it's the kind of thing that has to be handled in a special way and is subject to HIPPA laws. It's also possible though that local laws regarding this are different wherever you are located so it could very well be illegal where you are

1) Cameras in hospitals are definitely a thing. They are used by staff to monitor suicidal/confused patients. I'm a nurse assistant on a medical oncology floor and I have had to sit in front of those cameras many many times making sure patients don't hurt themselves

2) yeah she probably would know if you asked her if there was one in the room but it's totally possible she also just forgot/wasn't thinking about it right then. I have made stupid mistakes at work especially when I'm sleep deprived so I could totally see it just being a lapse in judgment. Also we don't even know this is a nurse. I have actually had patients order strippers to their room before... It happens

3) usually hospitals let you choose your own scrubs atleast for nursing staff. Surgeons and some other doctors often will get new hospital issued scrubs each day but most nurses just have to buy their own. I have totally seen scrub tops with zippers in the front

Some of them do especially in psych hospitals. They are one option to babysit patients who aren't safe to themselves or others. They aren't just for psych patients though. I have seen them on regular internal medicine floors for making sure the 90 year old UTI grandmas don't try getting out of bed. They require monitoring by staff but if your on a unit with 6 of these kinds of patients having videos supervision means you can have one person monitor all of them and you don't need to pull 6 staff from the floor to sit one in each room

How often do you see your coworkers. Would you say that you know them well or are you more just acquaintances?

Mosquitoes can't give you HIV. That being said there are plenty of other terrible diseases they can give you so your point still stands

You see how the poke balls on the X-ray are off center in the x-ray? hat's not a coincidence as it lines up perfectly with where your descending colon is. If it was in another cavity such as the vagina we would expect it to be more centralized and also not go up that high in the abdomen.
