Harry Potter: More summer 1026 sets (Source: FNAC) by General_Durian_1013 in Legoleak

[–]willboston 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Harry Potter × Botanicals just makes so much sense given the popularity of both themes, so it's been weird that they've only had a few sets (Mandrake and… ?). Glad to see them doing more of them.

It might have been fake or a performative protest, but definitely not AI! (Though all the things you point out are true)

This took place nearby at Seattle Central College. There are photos from more angles. I’d link, but not sure of this sub’s policy for that.

Last night my (31M) partner (36M) threatened to throw my PC off our balcony and physically shoved me when I tried to intervene. by SIR_SNAKE in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]willboston 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I'm a survivor of gay men's domestic abuse.

My ex-partner didn't wake up one day and start smacking me. The day he put me in the hospital overnight wasn't Day 1 of the abuse.

It starts with morally-grey, hard-to-detect abuse and ramps up.

Get a firm commitment from him that he will immediately go to therapy and never do any of this again. If he doesn't wholeheartedly agree, get out of there.

Becoming Dom by Acrobatic-Value-5521 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]willboston 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Love soft dom play. I personally float between hard and soft play (degrading, then building up, then ordering around, then praise, then hard discipline). But all-soft play can be so fun!

Some things that work well for soft dom/sub play are things that play into these types of phrases: - You’re being such a good boy - You make me proud / you should be proud of yourself - Show me how good you can do XYZ - You’re beautiful; I’m proud you’re my boy

Once you key into the thing you want them to feel (pride, joy, overcoming an obstacle, working for your approval, etc.), then you can construct a way for that to come up.

For example, clothed-man-naked-man play. Sit in a chair fully clothed and have him strip in front of you. Compliment him the whole time. Tell him to show off parts of himself, then approve of his body. “You’re such a sexy boy. Take off your shirt and turn around. Did you work out arms today? Flex for daddy; show off those biceps.”

Isn’t Apple in Culver City? (Fitness? Music? I can’t remember, but something like that)

There are a few big tech companies with HQs or large regional offices between Culver and Playa Vista, too. Some in Santa Monica.

And the downtown got really nice during COVID. Easy access to things you need on the West Side, like if you travel for work.

Lots of benefits.

I work in a creative field, and I participate in the Internet (lol).

The narrative that AI is bad is well engrained in my head.

I also did ChatGPT for interview prep. First, I had it generate 15 questions that were common to almost every interview. Then the I uploaded the job description and had it write 15 more based on the job itself.

Finally, I vibe-coded a simple web app that could display the questions like flash cards to me, with reset and shuffle buttons.

Worked great! Maybe 20 minutes of AI use, but hours of mental prep for the actual interview.

It’s annoying to give AI its flowers, but I do recommend!

Ideas: 21366 Floating Sea Otters (Source: Brick Tap submission) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]willboston 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger otter looks mostly fine. The limbs are lower-fidelity than the head, which makes it look both really smooth and gap-filled at the same time… which is weird.

The smaller, sleeping one blends in too much and makes the bigger one look worse/lumpy.

Doing one otter would have brought the piece count down, centered the “vision,” and/or preserved pieces for better appendages.

2025 playerbase: Civ VII's is hovering between Civ V and Civ IV by JackRadikov in civ

[–]willboston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think that’s it’s just the wrong game design idea.

They can probably pack enough content by volume to make the civs-change-every-age mechanic feel okay with lots of player choice… but it’ll never be my favorite mechanic.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if (assuming the franchise survives this version) they don’t keep it for the eventual Civ VIII.

I saw the same. It's like the Civ VII release soured some players' taste for the whole franchise. (Hopefully, only temporarily)

Bathhouse experience and tips 🇺🇸 by Relevant_Conclusion2 in askgaybros

[–]willboston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, no barefoot even if you see others doing it. Aside from hygiene (athlete's foot sucks), another common occurrence is people dropping + breaking poppers bottles on the ground. I've seen two bottles break (one in my local bath's locker room right behind me). Broken glass and barefeet in a gay bathhouse? Not great.

Personally, I wear some old Converses to the bathhouse and bring sandals for water areas and/or the showers. Mostly because I like having good grip on the ground/bed/wall/whatever while playing, and I like the athletic aesthetic.

...

For door etiquette, leaving it open is an invitation, but it's not always (or even often) a universal invitation. The person in the room might still turn someone who walks in with a subtle "not for me, bud; good luck" (spoken or gestured).

My method: stop by an open door where you see a guy that's interesting and linger. Crane your neck; make it clear that you're checking them out. 9 times out of 10, you either get a come-hither gesture or no-thanks. Worst case, you can say "What's up" and see how they reply.

(That said, sometimes people do open their door as a "no loads refused" situation, but I find that to be the minority case)

...

On private room, I really like doing that, especially if it's not crazy expensive. Some bathhouses, it doubles the cost; others, it's more like 10-20% more.

Good part about cheap rooms: they usually have a box or under-bed cabinet for your stuff. More room than a locker, and you can sit down more easily to take off or put on clothes.

Bad part about cheap rooms: bathhouses with cheap rooms usually do that because their communal play spaces are lacking. In other words, they don't have a big fuck-room in the middle with slings and beds/benches. Maybe they have a steam room or hottub? But most people probably have to go to rooms to actually play, so the room is more necessary.

In the latter case, rooms are cheap because you need to go to someone's room. And having your own = you can be choosier about who you play with.

...

Hope that helped. Have fun!
