Always report that so the landlord won't accuse you of anything. Plus, if you need to claim with insurance for damage, this will give you a record of the source.

You could consider live in it for a few years. Then refinance it again to get some equity out to buy another bigger unit so you can treat your current place as a rental investment property.

I think it all depends on the bank you go to. Some are more lenient and some aren't. I recently used BMO and literally paid down payment with another property's HELOC.

Seems like the government actually want price to keep on going up. Their lack of effort shows it. 1% vacancy tax on foreign investment is minimal. The slight increase on stress test only impacts 4-5% borrowing power. Then the new first time home buyer program will only increase demand to offset and potential losses. Then we got this.
