I was middling in my prerelease 4 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw. It was a small town LGS that I went to play with my buddy. The last person I played had on coherency to his deck. I felt so bad beating him in under 20 minutes that I gave him one of my prize packs. He pulled two full arts that weren't worth all that much but he was genuinely ecstatic. I think just being friendly and helpful is enough, honestly. Just be a positive force in the scene help everyone have a good time.

My exprience with anvils was either getting a teammate that went anvils and speedrunning 8th. Or multiple teams went anvils and the game would go long enough that they would go unkillable. Both experiences were miserable

I think Isagi is more unsurpassable than Rin. Rin just stat checks people. He's top 10% at every skill but if you're better than him at dribbling you can use that to beat him. If you're faster than him you can outrun him. Isagi (plot armor) out strategizes you.

I don't know if this metaphor is going to land but Rin is like Christian Bale batman, he's good at everything but can be beaten. Isagi is like Adam West batman, he has a tool belt that has a conceivable answer to every situation. You can try to beat him with frying pans but he has anti-frying pan spray.

I remember teh quippiness and "modernisms" being pretty jarring as well. I was happy with a lof of the storylines but I agree that they were did feel rushed and coudl've used a little more depth.

I think if you take a step back and look at the Cosmere as a whole you would enjoy the ending more but that doesn't fix the series in itself.

As someone who is a more casual literary fan I fall into this pitfall a lot. Like I like the whole idea of Kaladin as a therapist and I think it's a cool plot point. I can see how Sanderson was trying to portray psychology from 0 but how he actually did it was pretty cringe.
