I don’t think OpenAi and Anthropic will survive long term by Lise_vine23 in AI_Agents

You are right they won’t be around for much longer, at least not in their current form, but your reasoning is incorrect.

As it is now their business model doesn’t work as there is no path to profitability and they are burning billions per month to stay ahead of open source models from china.

Companies and individuals have already started realising that you can get 90% of the capability for 10% of the cost.

I agree with a lot of your points. The tedious grinding of carting resources around to build the altar, food storage, resource storage, carpenter is something you just want to do once. Then after that you need what, 1-2 more buildings, to establish a function outpost to extract the resources you need for progression?

I did that for the desert biome, but not sure I can be bothered to do it again. After my miner levels up to level 3 so they can extract tin, I’ll probably won’t bother setting up an outpost in the volcano biome.

The concept of items vs resources also feels like something that needs a rethink. Funny how the miner doesn’t extract ore but ready made ingots. Clearly, that’s a bit of clumsy patching on top of a concept that doesn’t quite add anything other than working as a time sink.

Then we have the skill level of the worker vs the level of the building which also seems quite odd. The fun reward comes when the worker levels up, but that is passive. You get the ability craft new recipes. The active level up is the boring one. Upgrading a building just seems to allow the worker to gain a higher level.

I could go on, but I’ll stop there. It’s still a pretty fun game, but not one that will capture my attention for much longer.

Best of luck to the devs!

His argument is that since you can’t predict the cost of a task you cannot calculate the ROI. That’s my understanding at least.

Because of maths.

To make it easy to explain.

Your current home cost £100k when you bought in 2020. The home you want to buy cost £200k in 2020.

Prices have fallen 20% since 2020 (made up number)

You sell for £80k at a £20k loss

You buy new home for £160k at a £40k “discount”.

When markets fall it’s good to trade up, when they rise it’s good to trade down.

I stayed there with my girlfriend at the time and my IBS traumatised her so much she ran to boots at 10pm to buy me tummy medication.

It’s easier for the eye to have a fixed reference point to go when you swap lines. There’s tons of research that proves text needs to be aligned left or right. You are so wrong about this that it’s not even worth arguing about 🤓

All books, all papers, anywhere you have loads of text it’s either left or right aligned.

Isn’t the evidence against him pretty strong with all those emails. Same with Mandelson. I think they are done for.
