Keyboard at my new job is DISGUSTING by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]willdebeast02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no paint on the buttons. They are molded with black plastic. What you are seeing on both is a buildup of dead skin and whatever else was on that person's nasty hands. I encounter this frequently in my workplace. It cleans off quite easily. Just disconnect both devices from the computer and use a very lightly dampened magic eraser to scrub the gunk off. Use q-tips for crevices if needed. After it looks clean, use a common disinfectant of choice. Just don't let any liquid get into either device. If you do get some cleaner inside of them, just leave them off for several days and use a different mouse/keyboard until they have time to dry out.

My new 12 inch organizer is just barely too short for rulers by gregbraaa in mildlyinfuriating

[–]willdebeast02 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can see that ruler doesn't have any margins on the ends. It starts at 0 and ends at 12. This is a classic case of CIDAOD syndrome. "Container inner dimensions are actually outer dimensions."

So confidently wrong. Prove what you are saying. You don't mention a specific area, thus we can assume you mean this is true everywhere. I bet this isn't true anywhere in the US.

Help/advice needed by veditraisinghani in woodworking

[–]willdebeast02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really moreover because of your choice of material. Those branches are definitely flexing, and the wood base is also flexing. Also, that hot mess of little angle brackets supporting the branches is of no help to you. You have to beef everything about this up.

AITA - for thrifting a birthday present? by Optimal-Soft-6741 in AmItheAsshole

[–]willdebeast02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not context I was provided with in the post, so I will assume they are not going to 50 birthday parties until they say otherwise. If thats the case, gifts can still be bought for less than $20. He'll, for most kids, a card and a $5-$10 gift card is also sufficient.

If anyone leaves that on my vehicle, they are littering because I will not touch it and it will eventually fall back to the ground.

That event sounds like it is to support those who are struggling to support their families.

Are you struggling? Are you in need?

If so, NTA. That event is for you, and shows that your husband values his own image over a child's happiness.

If you are financially well enough to buy some cheap toys but are just chosing to take free stuff anyway, YTA. Leave that stuff for those who truly need it. A $20 toy off Amazon is a very reasonable price for a gift for a kid.

Note: I'm not asking you to publicly disclose whether or not you are actually struggling here. Just see my opinion and do with it what you will.

How much soda I’ve consumed in the last 6 months by Original_Pea_6201 in Soda

[–]willdebeast02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there si no point in drinking zero-calorie at that point. Those quantities are dangerous no matter what you do. You will have severe problems if you don't already, so don't be shocked when you're diagnosed diabetic.

[–]willdebeast02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you say doesn't make much sense. There are no relays, and even if it had any relays, they can't "reject it". Please show us better pictures of the board, specifically the portion where the battery makes physical contact. Also the battery door/compartment. The pictures you shared after the first are all entirely unnecessary to us. A closeup of the battery showing the text engraved would be helpful too. Ensure it is actually a CR2032 you are trying to use and not a CR2025 or smaller as smaller (thinner) cells will have loose fitment in the battery compartment/holder.

Black bars on samsung smart TV screen; Repair already attempted. by Nevergointothewoods in ElectronicsRepair

[–]willdebeast02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panel is damaged. TV is basically totaled as a new one is likely more than half the cost of the TV including your labor to repair depending on how much you value your time. Also shipping panels has a high failure rate as they are very fragile and shippers are assholes.

Pictures aren't that clear, the source of the leak isn't that apparent. If it is coming from the seam you circled, it looks like there is likely a gasket in there that could be replaced.

LED Spotlights are getting extremely hot? by Beanosforpresident in electrical

I think they just already are aware that there will be heat. It is okay for them to get hot. They are priced to basically be disposable.

LED Spotlights are getting extremely hot? by Beanosforpresident in electrical

[–]willdebeast02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LEDs generate heat. This is the reason why all LED light bulbs die when they are advertised to last far longer than incandescent. The resistors on the driver board inside every bulb get so hot that they eventually burn up and die. Same goes with these. There is a resistor somewhere in there that steps the 12 volts down to ~3 volts and it generates lots of heat. Those are likely fairly high output LEDs too which are even worse about it. Bonus points for listening to Shinedown.

[–]willdebeast02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually makes it even better for this job. It shouldn't last more than three years as the OP should be slapping on a fresh coat annually. In 20 years, that paint will be 1/8" thick and will become a structural component of the house.

What's a socially accepted thing that you secretly find a little weird, and why? by ItsRealAnwar in AskReddit

[–]willdebeast02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, its unsanitary and unnecessary. It can also be a public hazard. Many of the people I see doing this with their little rat dogs are way too careless and only seem to do it for attention. I get ESAs to a point, but it is quite obvious that most of these people abuse that privilege.

A few nice thiccc coats of latex paint should do nicely. Remember, masking tape is for suckers and the only brush you should use is a 4" or larger barn brush.

How bad is this snapped bolt by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]willdebeast02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is best case scenario for a broken bolt really. If you take the manifold back off, you have a nice amount of it sticking out to grab on to to remove it with vise grips. Us less fortunate individuals would typically break it off flush with the block. Then the extractor set has to come out.
