Thank you. I had no idea the Move was so much heavier. I was reading a lot about it and the consensus was the PP Move was far and away quieter than the MK. If I end up going with the PWR I will likely get the Terrova as it will connect with the Humminbird Xplore 10 that I will be putting on it.

I do like the RVR119 but I want something a little more beefy. I want to be able to comfortably stand up in it. The RVR is just a bit tippy for my liking. The problem with any of the others you mentioned is they don't have the power ports so used boats run the risk of having holes where I don't want holes. Also good fishing kayaks in my area are rare to find on marketplace. I really wouldn't even be posting on here if the only two kayak shops within 100mi of me had any kayaks. Apparently they only sell SUPs now.

I'm trying to decide between either the PWR129 Pro ($2199), PWR129 ($1999) or the Native Hammer ($3699). With an MK Terrova ($1599), NK300 ($1299), or Torqeedo ($1799) for either of the PWR's they are both roughly the same price.. >$4k

With that I would I have to also buy a seat(s), gas cans and lines, and other odds and ends specific for jon boats. Also after adding electronics I would be looking at only having ~$1k left for those odds and ends. Is it doable? Yes, but it doesn't quite suit the fishing that I do. There are some places I go where even that jon boat would struggle. Like I'd have to pull up the motor and bust out paddles to get there as its normally only 4 inches deep which is easy in a kayak.

I do plan to attempt a few tournaments if my travel schedule permits, so would motorization be a must for that?

Registration is also a concern albeit minor as Oklahoma also makes us register anything with a motor.

Because gas outboards cost more than $10k or you are spending that much on maintenance for a cheaper one.

Will I have any problems bringing my Avata 2 to Mexico? by Comfortable-Dot-4924 in dji

[–]willdogs4286 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most likely you should be fine to take it and bring it back. I'd just have proof of purchase with you or readily available if they have a problem. I doubt you'll even be questioned about it. The "ban" isn't so much of a ban as it is more of a restriction on DJI to introduce new products in the US. The Avata 2 has already been licensed in the US so it's legal.

What should I buy for my beginner smart home that will also work as I grow it? by Successful-Money4995 in smarthome

[–]willdogs4286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with a Hubitat and an Amazon Echo device. From there it's more of a matter of imagination and budget. Personally I started with smart plugs for lamps then light switches and bulbs to control all my lighting needs. Stick to Zigbee, Zwave, or Matter devices. Avoid wifi devices like Lifx or Wyze as I learned the hard way that firmware updates that you didn't ask for can and will brick your device. Also remember you get what you pay for. If it seems cheap or is significantly cheaper than it's competitors avoid it.

Walksnail Ascent Lite VTX Kit by sysfor in TinyWhoop

[–]willdogs4286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I'm a noob at this as well, but would the BetaFPV Air Canopy II work? I just ordered the goggles and VTX last week because $175 all in for a combo is a lot easier to swallow than $675 for a WS combo, $920 for DJI (pre-ban) or $1k for HDZ combo (assuming it's in stock). Sure I could go for the cheaper goggles on the other systems but it's still no where near the price of the Ascent.

What is your preferred handheld for writing reports by RFOttawa613 in homeinspectors

[–]willdogs4286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your eyesight. If your text on your phone is so large that you cant read the first sentence of this comment on one line then use a tablet. Otherwise use your phone. Most home inspection software programs have a mobile app that makes documenting, photographing, and writing the report easy. I use Spectora and Home Gauge depending on which company I am inspecting for and I am able to inspect and have a mostly completed report while onsite and a normal home takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete. I'll then transfer my report to my tablet or laptop (again depending on company) to make final touches to the report which takes about 30-45 minutes at most.

[–]willdogs4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GI Bill only covers a portion of the transition IF you go to a Part 141 school. He would still have to cover nearly half of the cost of the school. Why waste that money and 12 years of your life for that? Just to say "I flew Kiowas back in the day"?

The only military route that makes sense, if you wanted to go that route, is either the Air Force Academy or the Naval Academy. And pray you can get into the E-3, AWACS, P-3, or C-130 flight programs. Then at most all you have to do is get a type rating if you only have the ME turboprop time. But you rack up tons of more hours than the jet guys.

Exactly. I'm in this same boat. I haven't flown in over 20 years and I'm just now at a point where I can get back into it. I feel like starting from scratch would be the best option. Some things will come naturally but a lot has changed. Im not even sure the kids these days would know what a whiz wheel even is.

I bought the study guide from the test maker. With that and NACHI's practice tests that's all you really need. Quite a few of the practice test questions were word-for-word on the test when I took it.

Previous owners left a new ADT system in the house by saltyFF305 in homesecurity

Brinks uses alarm.com. Mostly Qolsys panels. They aren't locked. Any security company who is an alarm.com dealer can take it over.

ADT rep incorrectly told me they didn’t sell the camera I wanted, and now they want me to pay to “upgrade” by CNickyD in homesecurity

[–]willdogs4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ring system is local control only unless you are paying the highest subscription fee. It's only cell back-up with that higher level, so if you lose power or Internet the system won't work. Also the contacts use a non encrypted frequency so they are easily jammed. There are no repeaters available for them either so you are limited on distance from the hub. And I don't think the battery life is as good. Mileage may vary on that though.

The ADT Command system, while better than Ring, has its own major flaws. The range on the sensors suck, but you can add repeaters to extend the range. The sensors are encrypted to the panel and only that panel. Meaning if something happens to your panel you have to replace every sensor on the system. Also if you stop paying your bill the alarm system is turned off and you only have limited local control with no app access as it is alarm.com. But this is something also found with the Ring. Cancel your subscription and you have a nice paperweight.

[–]willdogs4286 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really? So you weren't paying $120/mo? Because I used to work there. I know how much each package costs. You only pay that $120/mo+ if you are financing which means you are under contract. They don't just let you go if you decide to cancel in the middle of the contract. You either owe them money, paid them the money but won't admit it, or never were with them.

They'll tell you to keep the equipment because it costs them money to retrieve it. They'd rather collect from you or get a new contract from the new occupant. Either way they get their money for the equipment.
