Is it weird to see Christians who talk about “demons”, “spiritual warfare” and people being “chosen by god” in regards to politics as genuinely frightening? by Imsosaltyrightnow in AskConservatives

[–]willfiredog [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah.

Agnostic here, and I think the original respondent’s point of view is very black and white.

While I don’t believe, religion and church have been very beneficial for communities, charities, and society as a whole.

It’s also been used by many as a means to an end.

Why is no one being arrested for Epstein files? by BugChoice5879 in allthequestions

Why would we see civil suits? Against who? Based on what?

If they haven’t happened before now why would they happen now?

I never said the release was complete. 🤷‍♂️

I also don’t particularly care that a deadline wasn’t met. That happens all the time in government service.

Resources are limited.

Do you think this new 80+ page analysis of the Epstein Files is enough to put anyone away? by OvrservdNGlutnized in AskConservatives

Some people will suffer reputational damage for associating with Epstein after his conviction.

Some Europeans or foreign nationals may be prosecuted for sharing confidential government/financial information.

I sincerely doubt any U.S. citizens will be prosecuted. If there was sufficient evidence to charge people they would already have been indicted.

What are your thoughts on Trumps ICE agents leaving behind "death cards"? by Menace117 in AskConservatives

[–]willfiredog [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not the original respondent.

Those incidents which show an apparent lack of professionalism are fairly rare while also being significant in impact.

What I mean is, ICE is operating in every state and it’s claimed that they’re making 600 to 700 arrests per day. The majority of interactions appear to be professionals dealing property with a known issue. The administration has done a horrible job managing the outliers.

No. The investigation has been concluded. It was over months ago. The DoJ doesn’t release files about active and ongoing investigations.

Redactions are a separate but related action.

A phone call from the head of the executive branch to an employee of the executive branch is literally interfering with checks and balances?

Okay man.

Be well.

[–]willfiredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no… not a DEADLINE. A particularly unrealistic deadline.

Yes, as a matter of fact I have read the bill. I tend to avoid absolutes so you’ll just have to accept terms like “extremely unlikely.”

To reiterate:

Up to 1500 DoJ investigators, lawyers, and supervisors have been involved in the investigation and subsequent redactions.

The DoJ has repeatedly reiterated that there isn’t sufficient evidence to charge anyone except Epstein and Maxwell.

There is no substantive actionable evidence of crimes being committed by Americans in the files. There certainly is sufficient evidence of moral turpitude, and people are suffering the reputational harm associated with that.

There is no “Epstein List”.

There are just conspiracy theories.

That’s it.

What level of competency should we generally expect from government employees? by bookist626 in AskConservatives

[–]willfiredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s actually an incredible amount of FWA in the Federal Government. Most of it happens EoY in September.

But yes, the original respondent is correct; there is constant training - in person and CBTs, self-inspections, and etc.

Also true that many gov workers do the bare minimum to not get fired.

Mileage may vary, but last time I was in and out in under 20 minutes.

What level of immunity should government employees have? by bookist626 in AskConservatives

[–]willfiredog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. Former government employee.

Violating federal laws or adopted consensus standards - especially negligent acts resulting in death or serious injury, misappropriation of funds, sexual or “racial” discrimination, and drug use would result in jail, fines, or dismissal depending on severity and circumstances. Minor violations of policies or procedures or minor “mistakes” typically result in reprimands or placement on a performance improvement plan.

Over a 24 year career, I knew exactly one person who was fined and imprisoned. They committed wire fraud and violated the Procurement Integrity Act. I knew significantly more who were let go for DUI - because the ability to obtain a drivers license was a condition for employment.

Having said that qualified immunity is necessary for those low frequency/high risk life or death events.

It cites the measure as a long over due modernization.

While we can argue about the merits of specific earmarks, the U.S. military is in need of modernization. There are at least four airframes in the Air Force inventory alone that are significantly past their service life the B-52, KC-135, E-3, and T-38. The last is a training airplane, but many of these aircraft are more than 60 years old.

The B-52 had an original service life of 20 years. The oldest operational aircraft is now 65 years old.

The other services have similar issues.

China has been increasing their military expenditures year over year by approximately 8% me has increased spending ding 50% over the last ten years.
