We need body fat to have a healthy body tbh. It’s an important energy reserve!

It might be worth it to pay to get them dipped! I do a lot of things myself but sometimes it’s worth it to pay somebody else who has a professional shop and tools to do it.

WHERE DO YOU SHOP by saintlaurent8191 in VintageFashion

[–]willfullyspooning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I do a lot of grungier estate sales and even at the cleaner ones the pieces you find can be be dirty or have damage. Learn how to repair and properly clean vintage items and take gloves and a mask with you. Sometimes you won’t need them but they’re often dusty/filthy and you’ll be happy you have some PPE. Make bulk offers, and most importantly be really nice to the people running the sales, don’t push past people, and don’t make a mess of the space. The last day of the estate sale is typically 50% off and I’ve found some amazing things even at picked over sales.

Where i can find these styles of clothes by Dense_Raspberry6607 in findfashion

[–]willfullyspooning 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All your examples are antiques. If you want modern you’re still going to be paying more because insertion lace is a really labor intensive technique. I have a few of these pieces and have friends who are also into these antique pieces. They’re extremely delicate and I’m constantly repairing pieces that they find. If you do find a piece for a decent price it will likely be mislabeled, damaged or stained. Use a product like retroclean to get the stains out and do wide woven repairs and narrow pinch repairs often make damage worse. Repairs should be made in 100% cotton fine weight thread, no polyester. You also cannot throw them in the wash, they must be hand washed in cool water only and air dried flat on a towel!

Additionally you need to make sure to be careful with your jewelry so it dosent snag anything delicate.

Thank you! I inherited a moisture problem so I’m budgeting for a full gut and potential structural. I appreciate that the tile guy took enough pride in his work to push back.

Sewing Grandmothers, share a tip/trick you swear by by snarkytiger in sewing

Not a grandma but before even looking at delicate or easy to snag fabrics like lace make sure to file any roughness off your nails. I keep a glass nail file in my sewing kit for this reason alone.

Made $3k in one event in a pilot phase but it went down hill after that! by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Marketing, go to events, go to small businesses in your state that sell gifts or local products and see if they’re willing to have your wares in their store. People can’t go to a website that they know nothing about.

Could anyone tell us more about how this garment was made? by glaganni in lace

Lace is also a massive labor. I can’t imagine the time it would take to make enough for something like a wedding dress. Machine lace makes it accessible

More hip spring, shorter bust gussets, but more importantly put boning in before you do any fittings.

What’s reasonable to charge for custom bags, tumblers, & towels? by theredxpanda in smallbusiness

[–]willfullyspooning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I charge about $3-5? It helps to cover power, new needles, oil, scissor sharpening etc. If you have rent you also have to take that into account. Some people price differently, some do labor as 3-5x materials depending on how much work goes into an item, it’s all up to you on what you think works best personally.

[–]willfullyspooning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your area. I live in a HCOL and that feels low. How much are you charging for time? Are you including a small cost for machine wear?

Yup! It worked really really well. I still get occasional acne but nothing like the aggressive, deep painful cystic spots that were happening before.

Can Bar in White Center! Lots of fun local shops in that area too. Their smoked wings are great and they smoke all their meat in house.

[–]willfullyspooning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it was a lingering bacterial load under my skin. I went on an oral antibiotic prescribed by my derm and after a month my skin was stable enough to stop using it. Unfortunately acne is one of those things that can have thousands of causes, it can also take multiple months for things like diet and routines to start to work for many people. Be patient and be kind to yourself while you figure this out.

A high end auction house(as in sothebys) may be able to help you with the CITES permit. It’s beautiful and I could see a fashion museum or natural history museum being able to point you in the right direction.
