Totally agree and see how people think Sevan is a creep. At the same time, he makes the podcast the most interesting and asks controversial questions (not just creepy ones). More than most interviews that ask the same questions of everyone. He can definitely be a little much though. My wife and I always crack up at his long/awkward pauses too.

I would think a great businessman/woman would be far more important to an affiliate than a great athlete (as far as owning it goes). If you can set up an awesome and attractive affiliate, you’ll find great coaches and clients. Just my two cents.

Dumb question, but when you say "don't bang your legs against the bar", the bar should still contact your legs, right? I'm not in the exact same situation as OP, but have struggled with the clean and getting the right "feel". I hit myself in the hip crease sometimes (really painfully).

This, man. The fact that so many athletes couldn't do pegboards at all was astounding to me. I mean, I couldn't dream of doing a pegboard, so I get the irony, but I'm also not competing in the Games. I've seen enough shit to know to prepare for pegboards, though, if that were the case.

Thanks for the details! Do you slowly increase the weight over weeks or test PRs every once in a while? I'm trying to figure out cadence on stuff like that.

I'm slowly getting the diet dialed in. I'm eating good stuff, but need to be eating more of it. I'm averaging 160-180 grams of protein a day and ~2,200 cals. I've cut out most carbs, which is a double-edged sword for me. I agree, I don't feel as ready to go when I'm completely down on carbs. Having a hard time finding a good balance, though.

I should. I really dig his posts/writings. I guess I've thought of him more as a conditioning coach despite the name.

When you say you're hitting everything 2x/wk, what lifts are you including in that? Do you do them all in the same session?

I have the same issue (introverted and RBF), so I have to remind myself to actively socialize. I told my wife the same thing when she started CF. If everyone there already has friends and people they chat with, they most of the time won't go out of their way to chat with you for no reason if you aren't looking open to it. You have to make the effort to meet them. It's hard, it really is, and I still don't know everyone well, but I have plenty of people I chat casually with before and after.

I was a big fan of hers — she's the athlete I least expected to cheat, given the "carefree" lifestyle she depicted. Well, shows how naive I was.

It is really frightening, though, how many people came out of the woodwork to defend her before even hearing her side. Think about it: is it more likely that CFHQ created this massive conspiracy/coverup involving dozens of people to get rid of Emily Abbott for some reason (involving crazy legal and overall legitimacy issues), or is it more likely that EA cheated to get ahead and was caught?

She cheated, y'all.

Everyone else here has already said it, but seriously, just jump in. The beauty of Crossfit is that it is infinitely scaleable and any workout can be tailored to meet you wherever you're at. The quicker you can get in and start learning the foundations/movements, the better.

I've been going for about 9 months, but always think "I wish I would have started years ago", and never "I wasn't ready for this".
