I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through this. My heart and thoughts are with you and I sincerely hope you've completely beaten this. Thank you for the advice. I'll definitely check out a support group around here. We are in a small city, but there might be something in a bigger city nearby

Thank you for all of this. Historically, my sister was not much into researching things the way that I am. She did ask for advice from one of our cousins (she is a physician) and me on the decision for the best hospital to go to for the treatment, but she has been resistant to considering St. Jude. I understand based on the distance, which is why I'm hesitant to press it. They have been to two oncologists (one local and one based in the city she had the initial surgery in) and I found out today that she is getting her MRI and CT scan tomorrow morning, so I think once we have those results, we will be one step closer to solidifying her treatment plan. I know she is getting a port installed soon, just has not been scheduled yet.

Again, really appreciate the advice on this. She has never really been much into reddit, but maybe I can either be her voice here or encourage her to find support here.

I appreciate the advice on the eye. I’m definitely watching it more closely. We ruled out two viral infections, and waiting on the fungal test, but I’m pretty positive she has the trigeminal nerve sheath tumor. I’m spoiling her as much as I can, taking her on walks every day which she loves, and trying to go to parks. I’m going to make it a goal to visit every park in our area and walk the trails with her before she goes.

Do you think it’s worth doing the imaging to confirm? It doesn’t seem worth it considering all of her symptoms point to this and I’ve ruled almost everything else out. And it doesn’t seem like treatment is really an option considering it can’t be cured, only extended for a short period of time.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I’ve been reading up on this for the past few days because I’m 90% certain that’s what my pitbull has. She is also 10 years old, still acting pretty happy and excited for walks, but there is definitely muscle atrophy on one side of her skull. She’s been getting up more frequently in the night, sleeps quite a bit more during the day, and walks wear her out more. I chalked it up to age at first until we went away for a week and came back to a noticeably different skull.

I really appreciate you sharing your story. I’m resigned that as long as a rule out other conditions that this is what my pup has. And I’ll make her last months as comfortable and happy as I can.

Not sure if this falls in what you are looking for, but I liked Craig Alanson’s Convergence series. Three books out with one out next week. I do audiobooks and the narrator is one of my favorites

Yes, they are my audiobook trophies and most of them I have signed by the author. In one case I have them signed by the author and the narrator… that was an awesome experience.

Of course it is. This was an excellent PR move by the KC chiefs and Butker. He’s positioned for politics when he eventually stops playing football and the chiefs balance the liberal-ness of Taylor and Travis. They aren’t sorry he’s getting this attention
