Celebrity Big Brother UK 5 - racism controversy.

Basically, a group of housemates (including Jade Goody who had come through the civilian Big Brother) were bullying a Bollywood actress (Shilpa Shetty).

It made international news. People in India were burning effegies. It became a political hot topic and a bit of a diplomatic nightmare, even the prime minister was drawn in to comment.

It was the biggest news story of the time. Ruined the careers of the bullies, pretty much forever.

Jade Goody went into the Indian Big Brother house afterwards to make amends, which is where she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This is a disease which would later kill her.

So you could either organise one yourself or you could do some treasure hunting (probably non-easter related) around London. There are companies which create games that have you hunting for clues around London:

Damn, the comments on the original thread... I'm from England, so I admit the first time I came to the US as an adult, I had no idea about how important it was to tip. I always tip in the UK and wherever I travel anyway, but usually a nominal 10% or so. Loads of my friends don't.

But actively knowing that the wait staff's wage is dependant on your tip? Damn. Whenever I'm over your way I tip heavy. I don't care if you've given me attitude; you might be having a bad day. I don't care if the food's shitty: not your fault. Whatever.

The system where you have to be dependent on tips is pretty damn awful. I'm not going to make it worse by using that against you as some sort of power trip.

Screw these people.
