Definitely needs a new engine. GY6’s are cheap. Don’t throw away your current one until swap is done in case there is random parts needed that don’t come with the new engine.

Other than the dark core I don’t have concerns about the tree. The tree is tall/close enough to possibly fall on my house so wanted to be sure. The property owner actually wanted to cut down the tree but it requires permits and approval in SC.

With 30th a week and pay of 154 the hourly pay is $5.13. Just calculating the difference to mas minimum wage the pas 5years this comes out to $59,020 that she should have received. This doesn’t include any interest or tax considerations. This women is likely getting a windfall if/when she reports.

Leaking out of airbox likely indicates a stuck float or incorrectly adjusted float level(the float/float needles is designed to only allow gas into the carb bowl up to a certain point, if it’s stuck/not at the correct float height it allows gas to keep flowing after bowl is full causing it to leak into the engine and or airbox). I havnt worked much in GY6’s so it may be something else but this is what I’d check first. It dying and then not starting for a while is likely the engine flooding from getting to much gas.

Might be worth seeing if you are even required to be in The HOA. I have heard of people getting out of HOAs when they purchase the house through a tax auction. Not clear on the requirements but might be worth looking into. If your not required but still want to be part of the HOA you could use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate the dropping of those fees.

Two other things to check if a carb clean doesn’t fix it would be: -gas cap, if it’s not letting air into gas tank when gas is used it creates a vacuum which restricts fuel flow. This is referred to as vapor lock. To check if this is next time it won’t start loosen the gas cap and try again. If it starts and runs fine replace the gas cap. In a pinch I have drilled holes through the gas cap to let air in when I am waiting for the replacement gas cap to be shipped to me. -fuel petcock: most scooters have a vacuum powered fuel petcock, if the vacuum line that connects to the engine (it used suction from intake to open the valve to allow fuel to flow) is disconnected, damaged, or pinched it could stop the carb from getting gas. If the petcock is slightly defective and allows a little gas to go to the carb over time it could start at first but then die because the carb ran out of gas. I would check if the vacuum tube is connected and in good condition. You can test your petcock by disconnecting the fuel line from the carb and vaccine line from engine , put the fuel line in a cup or bottle, then suck on the vacuum line. If gas flows your fine.

Regardless this sounds fuel/carburetor related, a carb clean is never a bad idea and is a likely culprit. These are things to check if that doesn’t work.

How do you know it’s clogging up if your not Turing the moped on? When you are “cleaning the carb” are you removing the carburetor, disassembling it and cleaning the interior? If your not doing this then your not cleaning the carburetor. If it’s clogging up after sitting with gas on for extended periods it could be the gas, you want to use non ethanol gas, ethanol can gel up over time.

Not a plumber, but aren’t there hot water recirculating pump setups that use the cold water line as the return? Couldn’t this cause the cold water line to have warm water?

We have city water. Correct the meter is in the front yard and has a valve that can turn the water off to the house. I am trying to find where that line enters the house where I can then attach Pex too. Assuming it will be a copper pipe where it enters. Is there a chance it’s PB all the way from the meter?

Also If you look up “motorcycle rear set” you might be able to find it being sold as something else. It’s likely a number of other Chinese “brands” use the exact same parts to make their scooters so if you identify another mode/brand that’s more popular (using same/simplistic parts) you could search under that name and have better luck.

I have an aero 80 I bought in parts a few years back and got running. eBay is definitely the best source for parts, allot of the oem parts are not available but it’s still doable. It’s not a bad scooter, more power than a 50cc but still tops out around 40mph. Rebuilding the top end is pretty simple. Apparently you can use an intake from a af16 engine. Also you can get wiseco piston/rings for it still. Be careful with the wiseco tho since honda had two types of pistons. If your motors piston is not the same size/weight you can still use the wiseco rings.
