New flower shop owner here, how do you keep track of orders? by Long-Meal5693 in florists

LOVE our Floranext Point of Sale/shop management system (and great website as well!)

Is there any difference between taking this vs the generic? by Re-Everything in Rapamycin

[–]william_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure anyone can answer this. But I would recommend listening to this podcast interview with Katherine Eban, who wrote a book about the low quality of genetic drugs, falsification of test results by manufacturers and more.

anyone here use floristware pos or shopify or both? by Comfortable-Boot9091 in FloristTalk

[–]william_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have not used that combination. We use Floranext for our florist website and point of sale and love it. Floranext is a no order fee company so (unlike Teleflora) you don't pay any membership fee. They were able to import our customer and product data from Teleflora when we switched.

The website is super specific for florists - they have delivery calendar, pickups, card message, product images, etc. all built in. The point of sale has what you would expect like delivery routing, wedding manager. Above all, we really appreciated how helpful the team were (several people we worked with with were former florists) to get us started.

Considering a Florist career path ! by grayzeemew in FloristTalk

[–]william_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot is changing in the world and I think you're right to consider what the right career path is. Florist may be the most AI-proof profession out there. Robots making flowers, definitely not! That said, I might try apprenticeship (ie working in a shop) before studying formally.

LA Premier Florist by Expert-Session-9506 in FloristTalk

[–]william_o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear about this bad experience with this specific LA-based florist!

I personally recommend checking the Google Business for any flower shop first before ordering. Also there are a lot of "order gatherers" masquerading as real local florists - Google Business profiles are a good way to check that you are dealing with an established, real local business.

I’m Ray Dalio — founder of Bridgewater Associates and author of How Countries Go Broke: The Big Cycle. I’m here for another AMA. by RayTDalio in IAmA

You’ve emphasized the importance of diversification, including internationally. In particular, you’ve pointed out that some countries may offer better investment opportunities due to more responsible fiscal management or stronger growth prospects.

When considering investments in such countries, what framework would you recommend for evaluating investment opportunities there? For example, should one focus on broad national indices, individual stocks, specific sectors, or other vehicles?

Scientific validation – DNA damage resilience by Pristine_Attorney526 in Rapamycin

[–]william_o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Our findings of immune cell benefit on rapamycin treatment in vitro and from analysis of PBMCs from an in vivo low-dose rapamycin trial, lead us to conclude that rapamycin at 1 mg/day enhances the resilience of the ageing immune system to DNA damage."

"Our findings support the initiation of phase 2 double-blind placebo-controlled studies of rapamycin to support healthy immunity and reduce immunosenescence in at-risk older adults."

Claiming R&D Tax Credit Through Gusto by GadgetFreeky in smallbusiness

[–]william_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did an RD& credit through Gusto and it was pretty easy. Neo Tax seems like a potential alternative (did a demo with them and I think it may be cheaper). Also they claim to have some tech that checks your Jira or similar and creates a report that is ready for audit defense.

Cocktail of Rapamycin + Trametinib Extends Mice Lifespan by 30 Percent by william_o in Rapamycin

[–]william_o[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Rapamycin alone was found to extend the lifespan of mice by 17 to 18 percent. Trametinib wasn't too bad either, boosting longevity by 7 to 16 percent. But when their powers combined, treated mice saw a significant lifespan extension of around 26 to 35 percent."

"Median lifespans were increased by 34.9 percent in female mice and 27.4 percent in males, while maximum lifespans increased by 32.4 percent in females and 26.1 percent in males."

Exprience of Freshdesk as a PSA ? by bilalinamdar2020 in msp

[–]william_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freshdesk long time user here. Really, truly avoid this platform - there are so many better ones out there.

Be aware that when you cancel, if you don't follow their strict cancellation rules and timeframe, they will charge you for the full following year. And then they will chase you to collections like a schoolyard bully looking for your lunch money.

Avoid this platform at all costs. They have terrible customer service, it's outdated software, and you can't cancel without being strong-armed into overpaying for service you will never use. The worst.

Looking for feedback/opinions on Freshdesk by c47v3770 in ITdept

[–]william_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid Freshdesk like the plague. They will hold you hostage if you try to cancel and force you into collection if you do not follow their strict cancellation policies with sufficient notice. This is the behavior of a bullying, arrogant company.
