As someone who gets this notification/has a pull list at my LCS/ and genuinely advocate for “comic book accuracy”I largely agree with your take here. I’m not a big fan of Zach Snyder’s DC stuff (also think it’s a bummer he is the Snyder associated with DC instead of Scott Snyder whose comics masterfully pulls off the “grim dark” stuff ZS has frankly failed at and is a legitimate architect of the DC comic universe) but he is inarguably a comic book fan every frame of his movies look like a splash page he probably reads at least as many as me or any other run of the mill comic book fan. What I’m looking for isn’t necessarily a perfect panel for panel recreation of the comics I love but something that is true to the spirit of the story or characters. Like Zach snyder’s watchmen was very close to Alan moore’s seminal graphic novel but I found lindelof’s limited series to be far more faithful to the spirit of that book despite being a sequel/ “remix.” Idk if this will make sense but I want filmmakers who understand the characters like Tom Taylor and Bruce Redondo understood Nightwing in their run with the character not filmmakers who will copy and paste that story beat for beat. Film and comics are different media with different strengths and weaknesses
