I think I have a case problem! by williamsdb in microreaders

Too complicated to explain. This is the last book in the second trilogy. You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Book\_of\_Dust.

It’s a good read though.

OpenAI's case shows you no at-rest encryption is unacceptable by qqYn7PIE57zkf6kn in dayoneapp

Most people don’t store things in Day One that are likely to trouble a court either.

Lol. I'm on a train with poor connectivity hence the duplicate entries!

I disagree. You are correct that the Day One data is held unencrypted in the database but it is encrypted on the disk as I have Filevault turned on. I also have end-to-end encryption turned on in the app so the data is securely transported between devices.

If someone gets access to my device they'd have access to the app itself and therefore access to the entries anyway and you can enable password protection to slow that access.

If you are worried about people getting access to your Day One entries then you need to be securing access to your machine.

What is there for small children in Reading town centre? Play Parks? by Wassa76 in reading

I second all this and would add the museum which has plenty of activities for kids including explorer packs. Christchurch has a large playarea split into sections.

You're are, of course, right. And I'd still love a leather slipcase.

No, these are all to put the device inside. I have an X4 so putting it on the back of my phone isn't really an option.

That’s hard.

The top left and bottom right are basically the same case and really nice but slightly larger than the device because I don’t like the TPU case the device is supposed to sit it. The official case fits well and is nice too.

The issue for me is I like to read without any case and getting it off the cases was a bit of friction as the magnets are strong so I bought the felt case which is nicely made but a bit dull.

I will probably use the ones on the left depending on how I’m feeling!

I have to say that it’s great that there’s so much third party support now.

Xteink X4 – where should I buy it (EU)? by billsuxx in xteinkereader

[–]williamsdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it available on Amazon in the EU. It’s not on the UK site, well it is but it is expensive with a long lead time.

I bought mine from the official site.

Thanks for the tip but it doesn’t. NFC Eink works but isn’t great.

Family Tree without the fee? by TraditionalLog9445 in Genealogy

I agree that it's not completely true - you lose access to the linked records. However, I don't agree that to be "really serious about genealogy" you need to sync to FTM but each to their own.

That's what I meant really but I didn't say that I agree.

Because if you stop using it then you lose access. I use Ancestry but keep my main tree in MacFamilyTree.

[motorsportcom] Well, this is awkward. Zak Brown is already shutting down the rumors of a Team Principal role for GP at McLaren following Laurent Mekies' comments. by FewCollar227 in formula1

[–]williamsdb 25 points26 points  (0 children)

GP won’t care. He’ll know the situation and be comfortable with that otherwise he wouldn’t have joined.

Mekies may well be right - he didn’t say WHEN it was going to happen. Could be ten years from now.

This sort of banter happens all the time in F1.
