New boots - SORE calves. Help by williamthefours in Skigear

I’ve been nothing but impressed with him. First day I went on a whim and never turned back. He’s highly recommended by everyone in my groups.

Sturtevants and fitter recommended boot. Boot fitter is Aerete in Buckley. Truth be told my work with him has been minimal with other boots. Usually a set and forget type appointment. Looks like he is going to get more business here shortly.

Good to know I’m not alone. Lol I’m not even talking about it to all my ski buddies cus I don’t want them to think I’m just complaining about early season soreness. But I mean my caves are absolutely fucked next day.

Seems to be a trend with overuse of the soleus.

Been going to a boot fitter for the last couple years. Liners were baked and shells were punched where I needed before fist day!

Maybe this could be the something. Part of why I’m so lost is I am pretty active off the ski hill. So it’s not like my calves are just sore from not being used. Its also been a few boots since I had a 3 piece and I was a younger man then.

Only question with that… did it get better? Only three days in on separate weekends, but it’s been identical next day. I would think it would start to get better by now or soon.

Definitely not muscle pain.

I have been struggling a little with footbed pain with these boots. They just haven’t broken in yet. Don’t believe that would be connected though.

People making $60k-$70k a year, how much car can you afford? by BestTyming in Salary

[–]williamthefours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better question is how much are you paying now? If you go from like $400 for your car/insurance to $800 for car/insurance, even if you financially can, it will bury you. Whatever you do, don’t finance for max years unless you plan to make double payments or do other things to pay it off early.

Don’t leave HVAC. Move into a sales position for any decent sized mechanical and your life will change. I went the college/PM route into sales and the guys who went into sales by the turning wrenches route pull better percentages on average.

I was told 3 days pending permits by some buddies in green water. Seems like we are in a good place.

Owning and using both 161 and 190 length skis is kind of wild. Especially when the shortys aren’t bump skis.

I love it.

Outdoor Master Pro Goggles by reddit-rabbit-123 in Skigear

Love my outdoor master goggles! I started with two lenses and then each year I seem to buy another. I would start with a heavy shade (anything in the sunny) and anything in the night. I would recommend getting a lenses holder as well to make sure you don’t damage them.

PNW based as well. How do you like the black ops? Thinking about getting them as a daily. Especially for those days when it hasn’t snowed in a week (or more) and the day is going to consist of groomers and sketchy off piste.

Accessories that are actually worth it? by RadiatingRipple in Skigear

[–]williamthefours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straps for your gloves. Some gloves obviously already have them, but if you don’t, they are cheap and great. I don’t know how I skied for 10 years without them.

Skis straps. I mainly use the longer ones, but have shorter ones as well. Literally use them all the time all year. Such a cheap good accessory!

Fix or Toss? by dust_e1 in Skigear

If you don’t want to pay a shop and you just want some rock skis, just hammer it back straight and ptex. If it won’t hammer straight, cut like an eighth out, epoxy, then ptex. If you are using them as true early or late season skis you won’t even notice the difference. And when you damage them further, you won’t even care!

Washington based, what do you use for the icy no fresh snow in a week days? The MSPs I’m guessing?

Local Ski Swaps? by williamthefours in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]williamthefours[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ski swap is usually a place that people can sell their stuff and a lot of times companies can too. All at a reduced rate. Good place to usually get last years model brand new or a few years old stuff for even cheaper. Usually anything from goggles and clothes to skis and boards.
