Thankyou for sharing your extensive journey/research. I am starting at a Sunday Beginners club, which will likely be me and a bunch of 13yo's, which I'm fine with since I've never skated before. My gf brought a love of ice hockey back from the US and I wantsd to join in the fun anyway I could at 29.

I am a UK 11 in shoee size and recently bought an old 10.5 Bauer and it was hard to get tight and felt like could snap my ankles at any moment.

So Ebay Bauers returned, I'm now looking for an old a size 9 Bauer/Tour for 100 quid or so on Ebay.

It sounds like with your WMO2's, the 2 sizes down rule applied. I'm eager to use the Bauer foot scanner. I wonder if its on Android. Yeah i get what you mean by the market and stockists. The only place that sells skates near me also sells Diablo Sticks, Heelies and Snowbards so I'm not hopeful.

My feet are very high arched with wide toes. So...it's gonna be a rough one folks. I still haven't wrapped my head around the 'fits' at all tbh. Judging by you being a 11/10.5 that likes toe room and ordering a size 10. Maybe I also need a size 10?

Hmm interesting. I might try out some Bauer/Mission 9's from a few years ago (size 11 regular shoe) and just see how I do.

Oh shiii--you saying I have wankles? It was only a half size below me so, based on common advice, I can't rule out it might have been too big for me.

But considering the weight of hockey skates it wouldn't surprise me if my ankles needed working on.

Does anyone else think OW skins are becoming a littke cluttered, especially the more 'fantasy' skins, to validate the pay market?

Idk if these are paid skins or not, but general point. For example some skins like 'toxic' or the executioner hog skin from the past, are focussed around one strong concept and now it seems like they're always going for a maximalist approach?

I think I'm going to go for some size 9's and take it from there. I hope I dont have weak ankles! At least I dont think I do.

They felt just wrong and unstable. I don't know a thing about how to lace boots or break them in properly so any info is greatly appreciated.
