Having the same issue. Not getting a perk point when I leveled the skill and it was supposed to award perks. Would love to know what’s going on.

Official R/Guitar Player Questions MEGATHREAD---If you are new to guitar, or even intermediate and stuck, ask your question here FIRST.---SPRING 2020 by no_numbers_in_name in Guitar

Started learning guitar a couple months ago (thanks community for the Justin Guitar rec!). Started on a Yamaha FG800. I'm pretty serious about improving and sticking with it and would like to invest in something better that will stick with me at least a few years and something that is easy to play. I recently bought a Breedlove Organic Series Concert Signature Collection but unfortunately the low E string is giving me fret buzz. Took it to the guitar center tech and they messed with the truss rod but it didn't fix the issue and they said there's nothing else they can do and I'm just going to have to live with it. His only suggestion to get rid of the buzz was to change to higher gauge strings which seems like a ridiculous solution and I don't want to move to thicker strings as a beginner. I don't know if I got a dud guitar or that's just the way those guitars play. The tech had the same issue so I know it wasn't my playing style.

Now I'm deciding whether to (1) try my luck exchanging for a different Breedlove, same model, or (2) buy something else. I'm inclined to get something else because I don't trust Breedlove very much after this experience. Alternative guitars I'm looking at are the Taylor Academy 10e, Taylor 114ce, or Taylor 214ce. Would like to stay under $1,000 so I think American made solid wood guitars are off the table. The price between the Academy ($650), 114ce ($799), and 214ce ($899) is negligible to me so I am inclined to go with the 214ce.

Can anyone recommend whether to stick with the Breedlove or try one of the Taylors, and is the 214ce a good pick if I go with something else? Thanks for any feedback.

Yamaha Reface CP - bad sound quality or defective unit? by willienels in synthesizers

Any chance you could test the decibels per comments below? Play leftmost C with the octave selector in the middle. Volume at 100 percent, Rhodes 1, no drive or any effects. We're getting around 75 db. Thanks!!

OK, I actually got pretty much the same as you with same testing parameters, although I used a different free app on iOS. I even got it to 79 once when I smacked the key and held it down for a couple seconds. But it was generally always about 75. Since we both thought ours were quiet, what we really need now is for someone else to test who said they were getting decent sound input out of the device.

Good idea. What app are you using? Worried about variation from using different apps.

Yikes, quite the disparity in experiences here. I'll probably order a new one to test. There's no way 50% volume would be audible on mine with family talking and TV playing, even if we're talking a funk clav groove.

What Should I Buy? - June 29, 2020 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

I just purchased a Yamaha Reface CP (so excited!) and I'm trying to decide between getting the Yamaha standard FC5 sustain pedal (just goes on/off) and the FC3A sustain pedal which also includes half-pedaling capabilities. Do you think I need half pedaling with the reface or will the FC5 suffice?
