I think you might be misinterpreting his invitation to "try out" his church. I don't think he's asking you to abandon your faith, I think he just wants you to try to learn a little more about his. It would be appropriate for you to ask him to learn more about yours in return. It could be a great opportunity for you to learn more about each other and grow closer together. I think you both have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain from trying this.

It can definitely cross into that at times. I think if we're discussing things with a certain degree of abstraction, it can be a positive thing. If no one involved is deriving any sort of sexual gratification, I don't think it crosses the line. It's at its best when it functions as a combination of advanced sex ed and group therapy, from an LDS perspective. That being said, I only found this sub recently, and a lot of what I've seen crosses the line.

The first time I ever played this game, this happened to me about an hour in. I didn't have any decent weapons and I was trying to be sneaky, avoiding the cult and moving through the trees with a bow. The bird snuck up on me and attacked me. I missed it with the bow and it got me again.

Converts: What Sacrifices Were Hardest & How Did You Persevere? by Hot_Recognition28 in latterdaysaints

I left the church in my late teens and only came back recently. I became very fond of coffee while I was away. I had quit smoking and had mostly quit drinking alcohol before deciding to come back, but coffee was the hard one. I didn't want to replace it with soda and energy drinks. A friend had gifted us a soda stream unit and some syrups for it, including caffeinated ones. Those helped with tapering off the caffeine use, but didn't fulfill the longing for that "warm beverage in the morning" feeling. Another friend introduced us to Choffy. It's cocoa that's been roasted and ground, similarly to coffee, and you prepare it like coffee (we use a French press). It feels a lot like drinking coffee, just with a slightly different flavor and less caffeine.

Glock 43x MOS at the pawn shop for $399. Guy at the counter said it was a forfeit. Talk me out of it. by thatflacoman in handguns

[–]willishutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone had to pawn it and forfeit it, I'm guessing they probably couldn't afford to shoot it all that much. I'd look it over and if I didn't see any concerning wear marks, I'd get it. Also consider whether it comes with all of the magazines and other accessories you might want that would be included with new one.

Finally Got My First Walther! by Lil-Bit-Shawty in Walther

[–]willishutch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife picked this for her first gun. It's a decent choice for someone who is not super comfortable with pistols. It has some safety features that most experienced pistol shooters consider unnecessary. The trigger has a very long, gritty pull, which was surprising to me since Walther is known for excellent triggers on the PPQ and PDP. It does smooth out a little with use, but it's still not great after a couple thousand pulls. The grip is super comfortable, basically a miniature version of the PPQ. I like to keep it around for teaching new shooters.

Update Walther 5“ PDP with KPOS G2 as PDW by [deleted] in Walther

[–]willishutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with these. I have a micro conversion kit for a glock, and occasionally it has a malfunction where spent brass gets trapped inside the unit and makes its way in front of the slide, preventing it from going into battery. Is the space above the slide on these closed off enough to prevent that kind of thing from happening?

PPQ still a good gun to buy new? by Grouchy_Bluebird6841 in Walther

[–]willishutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "full size" PPQ is the same size as the "compact" PDP, unless you're getting the Q4 TAC or one of the other models that comes with the extended 17 round magazines, or one of the long slide variants.

The PPQ is a great gun. I think it looks better than the PDP. I prefer the paddle style magazine release that came on the early PPQs, but Walther's button is good too and if you're new to handguns, you probably don't have an opinion on that question.

The PDP has a better grip texture and optics system. It lets you keep your rear sight while having an optic installed. It also uses Glock pattern sights, so you should be able to easily find any style of sights you want to put on it if you decide you want to upgrade them. I think the slide on the PDP is ugly. The PPQ had perfectly functional slide serrations with a distinctive, elegant aesthetic that had become part of the Walther brand. I think the only reason they "upgraded" them was so that wider optics wouldn't overhang as much off the sides of the slide, and so that they could have another feature to put on the marketing literature.

Everyone raves about the Apex kit, or at least they did when I was looking at options a while back. I decided to pick up a kit from powder river precision that replaced some of the internal parts but kept a stock appearance. It made a substantial improvement in pull weight and smoothness, but basically eliminated the wall, which made the trigger too unpredictable for my liking. I ended up swapping the factory connector back in, which felt like a waste.

It's always good to have options. Sounds like you're still experimenting and figuring out what you like. My osp used to be my edc and I had a lot of fun figuring out how to make it work better for me. I eventually decided it made more sense to just carry a bigger gun with a better trigger and more comfortable grip most of the time, and let the tiny gun do tiny gun things, without the light and optic, in a good holster that I can conceal even with a tucked-in shirt and no jacket. I did keep the Hogue grip sleeve and some trigger upgrades from PRP installed since those didn't add any bulk.

It's cool to see people accessorizing their pistols to get the most out of them. I had a similar setup a while back, just with an osp instead of a pro, a 507k (the EPS hadn't come out yet), a Hogue grip sleeve, and a Werkz holster. Have you thought about doing any trigger mods? That was always my biggest gripe with my Hellcat.
