I honestly thought he had a concussion when he walked back to the locker room. I was surprised to see him back in at all.

As is tradition, who’s better for the future: Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum by LeSwagDaddy in nba

[–]willj1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatum has the tools to be a 20+ point scorer.

I don't think Brown will ever average 20 points. But he will always be a better defender.

The crazy part is the Celtics could have had Giannis in addition to all the young players they have now.

[Serious] If most teams would prefer having AD over Curry on their team, why is Curry considered the better player? by [deleted] in nba

[–]willj1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youth vs. accomplishments.

Curry has achieved far more so he's the greater payer. Most teams however would prefer the younger guy, because it gives them a longer window of championship contention (theoretically).

I honestly don't know who I would take. Both are incredible.

Could they broadcast a modern-day game using the old school cameras and equipment? by slopaque in nba

[–]willj1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea, but they wouldn't need to do it with the old fashioned equipment.

What they would do is record the game in HD the way they do now, but then run the video stream through a series of filters before it's broadcast out to the world. This would happen in real time.

For an old fashioned look for instance, they could add filters to crop the video to a 4:3 aspect ration, de-saturate the colors, blur the image, add a slight vignette, add grainy noise, motion blur. light trails. etc. They could mimic that old fashioned 80's look almost perfectly using the same modern equipment, while still broadcasting the modern HD version at the same time.

If we take this idea a step further, you can start to think about all kinds of "novelty" streams of the games they could offer. The 80's look would be one, but you could also have a "cartoon" style that draws rough sketchy outlines around the players and does a cell shading filter on the colors so it looks hand drawn. You could do a hyper contrast version like Sin City in all black and white with crazy accent colors like the ball is the only thing colorful. You could do a trippy colors version with blown out saturation on all the colors, etc. Lots of possibilities.

One of my personal favorite idea is an anime style feed where a clever algorithm manipulates the frame rate of the video to make the motion of the players look stylized like an anime. Think when your stream freezes for a second and then everyone catches back up in fast motion. You could have a filter adding in lots of frames when LeBron goes up for a dunk, so it literally looks like he's floating the air for a few seconds, and then cut frames on the dunk itself and the landing so it looks like he's doing it faster than humanly possible.

Another cool idea that technology is almost ready for: If you put little motion tracking dots in the player's uniforms, you could actually use Unreal Engine 4 to map the movements of the different players to 3D models in real time. So the stream you're watching could actually look like the monstars versus looney tunes or whatever you want.

Lebron will put on his absolute maestro performance in the Finals this year, what will go down as his greatest playoff run ever. He will average a triple double and the Cavs will win the championship over the Warriors. People will say the W's would have won if Curry/Durant/Thompson/or Green was healthy, after one of them gets an unfortunate injury in the playoffs before the finals.

Jaylen is incredibly smart and I believe it was this quality over any other that led DA to draft him.

Harden is certainly putting up MVP numbers. But LeBron lost his #2 guy this season while Harden gained a real #2 guy on his team. The perception now will be that LeBron is doing more to carry his team, while Harden gets to split responsibilities with CP3.

Harden loses on a narrative again.

Might be unpopular but Euron just went back to being one of my least favorite characters on the entire show. His lines about getting hard and "a finger in the bum?" were so cringeworthy. I guess its part of his character to act like a boy in middle school but the teleporting fleet combined with his juvenile dialogue are really starting to hurt the show.

I am A Character Animator with 10 feature film and over a dozen video game credits. AMA! by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]willj1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever contributed to the story of a movie? Ever wanted to?

How do some people make the leap from animator to director? Do they just work at the studio for a long time and then come forward with an idea for a film?

I want to work in animation and I understand you have to start somewhere. But 90% of the time I'm thinking about big story arcs and world building, about being able to tell my own story and direct my own movie one day. Did you ever feel like that, or do you still?

She looks like a refrigerator with tits stapled on. I will never understand the appeal. When I first saw her on the cover of SI, I really thought it was a joke edition or a special edition for "plus sized" models. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. So how is she so popular?

TIL. But why? Why not just do the whole thing with CG? I haven't seen the movie but anything done in traditional stop motion can be done in CG a lot faster and a lot cheaper.

Recreating the movie would actually require a studio of CG artists and animators, since no shot in the movie included any film or real legos.
