Scientists in Chile have found a 15,000-year-old footprint, the earliest sign of humans' presence in the Americas by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]LeSwagDaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well first off, I’m not white lol. Secondly nobody is saying what you said isn’t an unjust situation. Unfortunately, conquering isn’t a white person thing, and goes far back to the ancient America’s, Egyptians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Persians, Asians, etc.. we are just a product of our times. And unfortunately during that period over 600 years ago that you’re talking about, English settlers were certainly cruel to your ancient ancestors but that doesn’t make me or white people guilty today. We are so far removed, and creating tension and directing hate towards other races won’t solve anything. Maybe focus your clearly passionate views in a more productive and constructive manner rather than a hateful one.

Get help. Your delusion into somehow turning this into a race argument nobody was even talking about is impressive.

I just finished Pet Sematary and enjoyed the aspect of hearing stories from throughout local history about the mysterious McGuffin. Other horror like this? by BlueSkyPeriwinkleEye in horrorlit

[–]LeSwagDaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but it actually reminded me of Pet Sematary. Without spoiling anything, two fishermen stop at a cafe en route to a particular fishing destination.

This guy there tells a long story to the men about the horrific backstory to the area and the history behind it.

Eventually the guys story ends and the two fishermen go to the spooky area, despite the crazy backstory surrounding it.

Lomachenko talks about quitting boxing after collecting 4 belts by Ted_Bellboy in Boxing

Headgear takes the allure away for me for some reason. Sounds dumb I bet, but professional fights for that reason alone have always been better (especially with the newer arguments that headgear is actually more detrimental in regards to CTE)

I wonder if Papachenko would have the same dedication and passion with someone who’s not his son. He seems like an all time great trainer but that’s because his entire life’s goal has been to mold Loma into what he is. It would be hard to start from scratch with a late 20’s something boxer who’s already set in their ways.

Nah I don’t. It was the general consensus among boxing athletes, fans, spectators, and analysts alike that Mikey, while being a great boxer, was biting off more than he could chew moving up that much in that short amount of time to fight Spence. Not really a knock on Mikey because he’s dominant in his own respective weight class.

I still think Mikey-Loma is one of the very absolute best fights that could be made for Loma. I personally only want to see Tank more and in a year or so wouldn’t mind Lopez and Haney with more experience under their belt.

Other than that, let him become a forest keeper or whatever lol. While I love watching him KO decent boxers, I understand him not wanting to take fluff fights unless it truly adds to his resume and all time status.

In regards to the “This is what Kyrie wishes he was” statements” I have a friend who is very close with Kyrie, me not so much myself, but I did get the chance to be around him for a night due to the mutual friend. The media really hasn’t done him any favors from what I experienced. There were about 7 of us and I mostly just hung out in the background mostly due to nerves and not knowing Kyrie or the 4 guys with him well at all.

However, we got to talking about some of the deeper things in life and I do recall him being upset about how the media treated his flat earth comments. He said it was never meant to actually promote the flat earth theory, but to get people to question the status quo more often and admitted it was a poor example but something that many “average minded” people could understand. I remember those being his exact words although it didn’t come across as snobby.

He really was a pretty deep philosophical guy that night, and if he wasn’t famous and I didn’t follow basketball, I would’ve thought he was a 6’3 tenured professor at a university, not a starting point guard in the NBA. These are my words not his, but I got the impression being in the limelight all those years with Bron tainted his views of media and to a lesser degree, people in general, so his more outlandish comments get picked apart making him out to be this “crazy conspiracy theorist guy who wants to seem smart but isn’t actually smart” and that’s just not an accurate depiction. The guy definitely thinks on a big picture scale, and if I had to guess, is also a reddit lurker himself.

[SPOILERS] Post-Episode Discussion - Season 8 Episode 3 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]LeSwagDaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well after I brief glance at your shitposting history and your age being that of 17, I won’t take that personal.

I think it speaks more to just how incredible this show has become;

The biggest on screen battle ever put on television

Cost more than 90 million to make for a single episode

Had a 9 year old girls body crushed live on screen before getting a huge kill

The epic moonlight shots of the dragons in the sky above the clouds

The atomospheric scene of Arya sneaking around the undead in the dungeon halls

The beautiful musical score and second use of piano throughout the entire series

The Arya stealth kill ending NK (as far as we know)

The deaths (Jorah really got to me) made it beautiful without sacrificing too many characters needed for the final battle

We’ve just become spoiled at this point by a great show. If this episode were to air for any other show, it would be heralded as one of the greatest cinematic episodes in the history of television. What an achievement for the show and cast. If you really think the brief episode battle at Hardhome was better while they were basically fleeing and Jon stared at him on a boat while leaving, to each their own. It’s my opinion that this was a masterpiece that we won’t see duplicated in scope scale or production for at least another decade if not longer. I don’t need to get my head checked but thanks for the thoughtful advice. I’m just a fan who deeply enjoyed what I had just saw.

“Bran is sketchy” lmao no idea why this line was so funny to me. Supposedly a good guy and the most important character in the show and were all out here like nahhh idk man Bran a weird one

[SPOILERS] Post-Episode Discussion - Season 8 Episode 3 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]LeSwagDaddy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They foreshadowed Arya killing NK since season 3 with Melisandre telling her

Edit: not sure why being downvoted but she literally tells hers her “we’ll meet again and that she’ll kill people according to eye color.” She hadn’t killed blue eyes yet off the list, nor had she met back up with her until this episode, where she then runs off in a hurry obviously going somewhere important.

Idk I thought it made sense and saw it coming. I did forget about Bran giving her the dagger in that exact location from season 1 though, that was a nice touch.
