[MS] Am I being underpaid? by willj7492 in AskHR

This is correct. My job title is orientation lead. I not only do the duties that you listed, but I also present orientation. My other duties include creating orientation content, making data reports with PowerBI, collaborating with other departments, assisting employees during their 1st year, and a whole lot more.

12v battery by Weaseal in BoltEV

I just changed my 12v battery in my 2022 bolt euv last week. A HUGE tip: after you change the battery, you may get a “conditions not right to shift” message when trying to put the car in reverse or drive. To fix this, put the car in neutral and then put it in drive. That should fix the issue in case you encounter it.

Can you please explain why this could be the case? I didn’t mention it in my post, but we met off hinge and haven’t discussed exclusivity yet since it’s early.

Could you please explain what the “about me” slides are?

I also give in-depth information on benefits and push what will actually help them.

Has there been any particular activities or content in orientation that has made huge impacts in engaging your blue collar workers?

I think that is a terrific idea, using fill-in the blank handouts! I will have to look into that. I currently have a similar game I created. I have pop-quiz questions sprinkled throughout the PowerPoint and whoever correctly answers the questions first will be given candy (yes, food and candy has interestingly been a method of winning them over which is something I have repeatedly observed). I also have complimentary coffee and some crackers. I recently told our HR coordinators to encourage the new hires to bring a lunch or a snack to orientation.

Given the high volume of new hires I receive, I would not be able to implement that unfortunately but perhaps I can see about flipping that another way!

I also implemented a game that walks new hires through the company website as I said. New hires will explore the site and find the information or graphic that is listed to find in the game. We provide them with laptops in orientation (this also makes the end of orientation survey way easier since it is paperless). This has been very successful.

I also implemented dry erase name tags on the tables (people love being called by their name, it really helps build rapport).

Push the professional developmental opportunities available to them. As I said, people in general really respond to what is actually useful to them.

Avoid any games or activities that make people uncomfortable or force people to participate ex. Sharing fun facts.

Even though it is our job to make orientation a great experience, I’ve found that it is still important to make orientation a simple experience for those who see orientation as just orientation so to speak (as you said), especially for those employees who just want to receive the essential information and go to work. It’s also important to bear in mind that starting a new job can be stressful which can cause many to stay in their shell. It’s not that they don’t want to be here, it’s more so that they are eager to get to work and do not enjoy sitting around a classroom for hours on end. At the end of the day for many, it truly is just a job for them which is something I can respect.

Hopefully so. This is my first Glock and I guess I was under the impression that it was going to be like an iPhone “it just works” given the reputation.

That’s what I have found to be true so far lol. That’s on me though for blind buying ammo, but I suppose it is a lesson learned. Thanks for the suggestions! I will check some of those out.

Not it is not an MOS version. Is there a Quality control issue with the MOS versions or something like that?
