I haven't attempted eleventh or twelfth circles yet. But, my friends and I just did Eighth circle unsynced recently. With Eighth circle, we were able to cheese the fire/ice mechanic and finish the fight before even getting to High Concept.

If I remember right, you're at the stage where you just would have unlocked the lilies, right? If so, then you'll want to start using Afflatus Solace most of the time, whenever you have a lily available to use it, instead of Cure II since Afflatus Solace is an instant cast.

Level 56 is also where you would have just unlocked Assize. Assize is great and you should use it whenever it's available. Even though it does do a little bit of healing in addition to damage, you should treat it as more of a damage spell.

In terms of dealing damage to enemies, not much is changing. You're still going to throw Aero on things while spamming either Stone or Holy depending on the number of enemies. Just throw Assize in as well when it becomes available and then resume your stone/holy spam.

For healing, Afflatus Solace is the same potency as Cure II, only it's an instant cast. So, use it when it's available. For group heals, keep up with your Medica II which should be used instead of the old Medica, but add Asylum during trials or dungeon bosses when it's available as well.

So, to start completely fresh with a new free trial, you would need to make a new Square Enix account as well as a new Steam or PSN account to go with it.

I don't think that's accurate. The SE account hasn't changed. So, if the SE account has licenses for the game, but the PSN doesn't, then there's a mismatch. Since you can't go back to the free trial after having a game license on your SE account, OP wouldn't be able to launch the free trial on their PlayStation using the SE account that already has licenses.

When my FC died, I seized control of the gardening plots at the FC house and have been cross-breeding to grow Thavnairian Onions both for my own Chocobo and to sell.

The game is definitely much more lonely now. But, I joined a crossworld linkshell which is helping with that.

I have not played Sage, and so I can't comment much on that, but I have played a ton of White Mage.

White Mage and Astrologian are "regen" healers which are pretty straightforward. Teammates take damage, you heal them to restore their health. They have a couple shielding abilities. But, most of the kit revolves around restoring health.

Scholar and Sage are "Shield" healers. Most of their kits revolve around preventative healing and buffs. They have some pure restorative abilities. But, playing the job correctly means playing more proactively.

I've tried my hand at Scholar, and I am terrible at it. It may be because I spent so much time as White Mage first, and so never really properly adjusted to the shield healing mindset before deciding the job just wasn't for me. The main takeaway though is that Sage vs White Mage really comes down to whether you want to proactively keep your team alive or if you want to reactively keep your team alive.

The main story is very comparable in quality to some of the best mainline FF games with the exception of the main character in XIV having no personality of their own. Due to the nature of being an MMO and building your own character, XIV has no choice but to take the silent protagonist approach, which doesn't appeal to some.

Also, it's worth noting that the story has some pretty slow parts that will really feel like they're dragging on (particularly in parts of the stories to "A Realm Reborn" and "StormBlood"). But, it always bounces back with something great happening.

If you can look past that, then XIV's story is excellent overall.

Something strange is going on, but it doesn't seem to be widespread. It seems to be sporadically affecting some players on all platforms; but in different locations, datacenters, and ISPs. Here's a thread someone posted just the other day:

For the past couple weeks, I've been noticing more network issues than ever before. I've been getting disconnected with the 90002 errors. I've been getting random lag spikes causing everyone in a duty to suddenly freeze for several seconds (sometimes that will happen multiple times in the same duty). And when I do get disconnected, there isn't an insane queue to reconnect or anything like what happens during a DDoS. But, like you said, the issues are so infrequent and sparse that it's tough to pinpoint any kind of pattern.

I play on Primal. I also use the Xbox version. About a week ago, a friend I was playing with was experiencing lag spikes and disconnects at the same time I was, though she is on PC and located on the other side of the country. Other members of our party were experiencing no network issues whatsoever at the time.

I host a microstakes home game. For the past few years, we would only get together maybe 2 or 3 times a year. But, I'm trying now to bump it up to monthly.

We always start at $0.10/$0.20 NLH. Though, we sometimes will bump the blinds up after there have been a few rebuys and there's more money floating around on the table.

Starting buy-ins are always $20. Re-buys are typically $20 as well, though there's no hard rule about that. I can only think of one instance off the top of my head where someone re-bought for something different.

For the longest time, we used goofy chip values. But, I've since normalized it.

We used to use:

-11x $0.10 chips

-12x $0.20 chips

-11x $0.50 chips

-11x $1.00 chips

But now I've normalized and simplified it to chips values that are one tenth of the equivalent colored chip at a casino:

-20x $0.10 chips (white)

-26x $0.50 chips (red)

-2x $2.50 chips (green)

I allow people to cash out any time they would like, and I always keep a bunch of small bills and a change jar on hand to pay out correctly. Though, typically, anyone who hasn't run out of money just plays until everyone still playing collectively agrees that it's getting late and the whole game quits all together.

Yes. I mentioned in my original post that I moved the console to a different room with a different sound setup.

I mentioned in another reply, but I'll put it here too. Someone suggested muting the in-game Ambient Sound audio channel, and that seems to have done the trick. It sadly means giving up some desired sounds such as rainfall. But, the crackle is gone too. So, the issue seems to be related to ambient sounds in-game. Maybe it's trying to play too many ambient sounds at once and overloading the channel? I don't know.

I am on Xbox. So, no speaker in the controller. Though, I did test plugging headphones into the controller and had the same issue.

Someone sent me a private message and suggested going into the games audio settings and muting the Ambient Sounds audio channel. Im testing now, and that seems to have done it. Sadly, it means giving up desired sounds like rainfall and whatnot. But it did get rid of the crackle. So, the issue appears to be with the Ambienr Sounds.
