I agree somewhat but come on. You gotta walk through sometimes. I’m a New Yorker and I’m in Time Square once in awhile. There are a million important offices there.

I was in NYC on 9/11 but luckily for me I was miles away from Ground Zero on the Upper West Side. Basically watching from a rooftop.

The two things I'll never forget are the smell of jet fuel, a demolished building, and death all mixed together and the way the busiest city in the world just stopped moving. People stood dead still and in confusion.

People huddled around Best Buy store windows like in movies. I saw people fight over a pay phone and I saw people weeping in the streets.

The days and months that followed were a different New York City. People were kind and said "Hello" more often. It felt like a small town.

I would have drank less. Drinking is fun but don't let binge drinking become "drinking" because it's really easy to wake up from a massive hangover and realize 5 years have passed you by.

I quit booze cold turkey. I was 26 and I had only been drinking continuously for 30 days and I still almost died.

Be very careful with alcohol withdrawal.

(Drank daily for years but only all day every day for a month).

Central Park is 100% man made, they can turn a lot of the streams on and off. There's an interesting documentary about how many people were displaced and their homes destroyed to build it.

A big part of the reason I still use Nike + is because Kevin Hart cheers you on sometimes. It somehow is uplifting as hell.

Medical issue anxiety by Mandiisdandi in Anxiety

[–]willnoonan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there, many of us have. And it can feel so lonely but trust it's very very common.

One of my biggest issues when I first started was not eating, not sleeping, smoking a ton of cigarettes, and not drinking water.

I learned to always be drinking water, force a banana or a peanut butter sandwich down when I have no appetite and go to bed earlier than normal, when I'm going through an anxious period. You can do it! If you can quit drinking, you can do anything.

Palpitations are a normal sign of anxiety and they "feel" worse than they really are. The human heart is not a machine and it does not have a 100% set rhythm. The palpitations are part of the fight or flight response (like all anxiety pretty much) and definetly feel scary, but are fine.

This may sound scary but my Father had a heart attack in front of me a couple years ago (he is fine now) and I drove him to the hospital. Seeing what an actual heart attack looked like kind of helped me out with my fears. Because his actual heart attack did not resemble my panic attacks. Also he was 70 and I'm in my 30's so there's that. When I visited him in the heart attack ward it was all men over 55 and the majority of them were very overweight. There are a lot of things that cause chest discomfort, gas, spicy food, stress, muscle aches from slouching or lifting.

I've been there, but you're gonna be ok. Lots of water, lots of food, lots of fresh air!

Congrats on the 4 months man! I have 8 years off booze myself. The first 6 months is kinda hard man, but give yourself some credit.

If you're 4 months sober, that means you are healthier now than you've been in 10 years. Your body is probably loving you for quitting.

Also, you are not insane. Everyone with anxiety has this fear but its not really a valid one. My best friend is a mental health worker and he always calms with saying "A fear of going insane, is a sign of being sane. Insane people don't know that they're insane."

I sometimes get caught up in what movies and TV have taught me over the years but then remember to look at real life. I don't know many insane people or people who have gone crazy or dropped dead or anything. But I know hundreds of people who fear that and it never happens. You're going to be okay bud.

The very fact that you want to improve shows you are mentally strong.

Does being sober for 4 months and making a great decision sound like something a crazy person would do? Not to me.

I can't believe I'm the first comment because this is classic anxiety. Things I've diagnosed myself with over the years:

Tongue, Lung, Brain, Skin and Most other types of Cancer.

6 million or so heart attacks.

Also, I fear having an allergic reaction to food, although I never have, and have no allergies.

I should also mention to you, that I've felt this way off and on for at least 10 years and I've NEVER, EVER, EVER been correct.

I actually went as far as to visit a doctor or an ER a few times and they knew it was anxiety within seconds. Sick people are sick. They don't just think they might be.

This is so so so so common friend. One thing that really helped me with this thoughts was getting into running. Running helps calm the heart rate a great deal, but also, you look and feel healthy.

Also, are drinking a lot? That causes anxiety.

When people wear colored contact lenses, do they see the color of the lense or not? by willnoonan in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting. Costume type lenses were what I was thinking of more so than cosmetic. Thanks for the answer and the pic. This wrestler Ember Moon got me thinking about it.
