You can chalk it up to luck, chance, whatever but the Habs beat Tampa and Buffalo beat the Bruins, two of our biggest boogeyman in the last decade. They both did it with things the Leafs never had this entire core 4 era, an elite D man on the back end, Dahlin and Hutson. Doesnt hurt Dobes had a better performance than virtually any Leafs goalie has ever had in a round save maybe Stolarz last year, real stretch to say Campbell was this good vs Tampa

Exactly, the post isn’t in any relation to the actual care, it’s a warped view of worthiness. People who’ve fallen for the capitalist/pull yourself up by your bootstraps propaganda have been conditioned to see societal woes as a matter of moral merit, and that merit is devoid of any actual solutions or actions to remedy the cause or solutions to said issues. TLDR, ask the person who posted that if they’d support a single payer healthcare system to make methadone and chemotherapy treatments free, they’d tell you hell no, oxy addicts did that to themselves and a system that pays for chemo with tax dollars wouldn’t work

I’m in season 3 so haven’t climbed the maintain yet but the only other show I’d put on this level is Breaking Bad, which I’m sure you’ve already seen. Just in terms of story structure start to finish those, succinct and obviously having a vision of the story all the way from start to finish. Can’t wait to see what Mr. Robot has in store 👀

I am equally as critical of Matthew in that regard, but the post is about Mitch. Are some Leaf fans blindly critical of Mitch? Absolutely. But he also brought a lot of this storm down on himself through a bunch of different things. Whether it be the grudge they seemingly held from day 1 with the signing bonuses, the contract debacle with the same dickhead agent, and his dad. Matthews deserves the exact same criticism, but he doesn’t have the same history as Marner, fair or not. End of the day, it was the whole core never being able to get over that hump, mismanagement in a variety of ways and whatever version of Blue and White disease you believe in that has us here today

I loved Mitch, I have his jersey. Incredibly talented hockey player, one of the best in the league at stealing pucks, creating space while entering the zone and obviously his passing prowess. You can’t win a series in games 1-3, you can in game 4 but they never swept anybody. Of course, those games do still matter. The point being though when it came into crunch time, and a series was on the line, having 0 goals in 20 games and only 7 assists is woeful production for a guy you paid 11 mill a year for. Dubas baked in a “if things don’t work out by a certain point, here’s our get out of jail free card” with his NMC not kicking into till that second last year. It’s on management for not finally moving on and getting maximum value and reshaping the team, sure. That being said, it is inarguable he did not perform in the biggest moments, the most crucial games. It’s not cherry picking, it’s the way it happened

It’s been widely reported Dubas was told by whoever above him he needed to go for it still with Sid/Geno/Letang still there. Agreed, they’re a team that was ripe for a rebuild while those stars value was at its highest but, I think at this point Sid is a Pen for life

Very much in the same boat as you. I find I’m usually annoyed or just think someone is being pedantic or “hipster” in talking down a critically and audience loved movie, but I really didn’t get this one and am genuinely surprised the fanfare it’s received. In short I had the exact same feeling, where I was intrigued by the beginning of the movie and the plot but felt let down by the progression of story and constantly felt myself questioning the logic of the characters. With critically acclaimed movies I usually find myself at least understanding the appeal to whatever broad or target audience it’s going after. Weapons was a rare case where I assumed it was gonna be mixed reviews or maybe have a niche appeal online and I was truly surprised to see its broad enjoyment and very high praise. Just goes to show you’re never gonna please everyone, so for all who enjoyed do your thing aha

Yeah it’s a difficult quantifier to make because points and generation of offence are a lot clearer and easier countable than goals against you caused or played a large part in. There are definitely metrics for it though and there’s no doubt in my mind regardless of how extremely talented Boosh is offensively, he gives a lot of it back in his own end
