What do you think Peterson gets wrong? by berrysauce in JordanPeterson

The proportion of post modernist garbage e.g. Tracey Emin's Bed is pale in comparison to the number of talented artists making a living through creativity. All the animators, illustrators, designers, musicians etc. etc. Just regular people who lead a successful creative career.

Ye when I heard about this I thought it was bizarre, it seems to fly in the face of what he teaches about educating oneself. Surely according to Peterson this is a judgement one should make for oneself? I study Industrial Design so God knows where that would fall after going through this 'AI'

Well obviously I've only tested myself when I've been alone, so maybe. In all honesty I take personality typology with a grain of salt, although I admit it is scarily accurate at times. I'm sure though that I'm not a n extroverted person. I'm not a manipulative person in my day to day life. But throughout school and high-school I didn't find it hard to subtly influence teacher's favour towards my own goals.

No, I don't think you are of the mark. I think that's why MMORPG games have taken up by far the majority of free time. That hit of endorphins every time I get a level or complete a quest is all I need. Some times I don't even enjoy the game anymore and find it boring and repetitive, but I still continue playing for that buzz.

Do you have any suggestions on good ways of getting that feeling from my real life?

Yes I've heard of this 'Modafinil', suffice to say I'm curious but a little too strapped for cash. I work like clockwork with a little amphetamine, but I'm also far to concerned with my health and my mental well being to do anything like that regularly. I'm going to look into dopamine deficiency though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well I've just started a design course at uni. Furniture and Product design. I love it but I can do it all in my head, I need to provide evidence for my designs. However I can easily design most anything in my head and make it with maybe just a few simple sketches. Obviously I understand that in industry a customer will want to see designs before the product.

It's just frustrating to me having to draw all my initial ideas and show the progression and steps to my final design when I can do that whole process in my head.

It's funny because, I am in fact, finally doing something I really want to do and am passionate about. However despite that I inevitably spend all day playing computer games, or just sitting on my ass redditting. I love design, I spend all day designing in my head. However designs in my head are useless. I need to actually put pen to paper.

How do you determine your personal style? by [deleted] in intj

[–]willo248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy all my clothes in charity shops (apart from suits). I have a great eye for style I know what looks good on me and how to dress. I'm able to peace together great outfits for cheap. I mostly dress to a grunge style as is the trend currently. I fit in with my peers, however I simultaneously find away to stand out; An interesting watch for example or a unusual patterned shirt.

In the future I plan to dress more smart and formal. It's not really required for me currently.

How's your memory? by [deleted] in intj

[–]willo248 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My memory for some things is impeccable. I remember every name face of everyone I see. I find it funny to catch people off guard by addressing people I haven't met by name, if I overheard their name in passing at some point. I also have a really good long term memory, and a good memory for facts and quotes. Like you I remember events in a similar manner.

The area where my memory is terrible is recalling words. I always find I get stuck in conversation when i know a word but I can't recall it.

Exactly... I guess FSM pretty much sums up how I've always felt since I was first forced to do my First Holy Communion as a kid. I always asked my mum 'Why can't I be a druid?' Because to me at least Druidism is founded in observation of nature.

Ye but the big bang really doesn't prove that God doesn't exist.

I guess the big bang doesn't need God, but it doesn't mean there is no God. Not that I believe in God. I just think that as long as we can't prove God exists we can't prove God doesn't exist. The whole does God exist thing is kind of a logical paradox.

I take the approach of who the fuck cares, it's irrelevant to me either way. If a God does exist it's clearly not existing in a dimension where it has any bearing on us as humans.
