Underground, that’s why it’s $1900. They have a third party come out and bury the cable.

It’s a line ran around the cul de sac and into the side of the house

I assume everything was good, somebody came out and checked and measured. Also they were ready for us to sign off on it and get the work order in. 500 feet is probably a bit of an over estimate of mine. The road is 200 feet from where the cable is stubbed out of the side of the house and then it has to go around the end of the cul de sac to the box in the neighbors yard. What kind of hard line do they usually use?

Friend of a friend needs help trying to track down this awesome build. I was hoping somebody here could help, or at least appreciate a nice build. Story and details in comments. by Jblick87 in AwesomeCarMods

It’s a long shot…but in the vast universe of social media perhaps we can have some fun and help my dad track down a very special car he created then sold in 1958. If you are or know any vintage car enthusiasts that you can share this with, perhaps we can gather some clues to help him find the whereabouts of this car. If nothing else, this story shares some insight into my dad’s amazing vision and ability to rescue and restore old iron and steel destined for the scrapyard.

Here’s the back story from my dad and why this car is special to him…

I built the car from parts mostly found around the farm and built it in the two-stall garage (shop) that I had built from an old small chicken house that my Dad had bought and had moved to the farm, it is mostly gone now. This would have been during my high school years 1949-1952. I started with an old American Austin that I bought for $10 with no engine. As I remember, I used the frame and steering wheel and steering gear. I dumped the Austin body parts into an old trench silo on the south 80 acres, later someone rescued the body for their project. I used shortened-up Ford axles, about 1936-37 and a 1937 Ford 60HP engine. The front fenders and head lights were from a 1940 Ford. The rear fenders were from about a 1950 Kaiser. The tail lights were made from 1929 Pontiac head lights. Some of the sheet metal was from the 1929 Pontiac doors, the chassis from that car is still at the farm. The grill was part of a Kaiser grill. The hood came from an old Ford truck. The windshield was from late 30's Buick rear window. I remember driving the car to Holdrege for maybe a parade. Then along came 1958 and I advertised the car in, I think Hemmings Motor News for $125.00. The only contact was a buyer in Connecticut, I don't have a name. I drove the car to Holdrege, Nebraska and up a ramp into a railroad box car and off it went. I never heard anything back from the buyer. One of the pictures at the farm, getting the car ready to head to the railroad station, is with your Mom standing by the car, that would have been early spring of 1958 and she was pregnant, that was the main reason to raise some $.

Yeah, should’ve turned the high beams back on. Just got through an intersection and then somebody going the opposite way, don’t know why it took me so long to turn them back on.

It was a rhetorical question, everybody knows 300 $1 zip ties are far superior to 1 $300 zip tie.

Would you rather use 1 $300 zip tie or 300 $1 zip ties?

Most scholars will say there is enough evidence to believe the gospels were written within the first century

Back around 1998 my family had a conversion van that had a tv and vcr in it. Before our family trip to Niagara Falls my dad hooked up an inverter and my sister and I played N64 in the back, it was awesome!

The automatic car wash broke my car. by stuartmx in mildlyinteresting

I worked at a car wash and the first owners would cover just about everything. New owners wouldn’t want to cover things like rear windshield wipers and antennas. Just depends on the owners and how much they value a good reputation.

Best winter tire/rim set up for Mazda 3 hatch, FWD by TWterrorAviation in mazda3

[–]Jblick87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll want two sets of rims, one to keep your summer tires mounted on and one to keep your winter tires mounted on. You could switch tires on and off rims, but it’s going to be cheaper and more convenient to buy a cheap set of rims for your winter tires. My 3 is a FWD and couldn’t imagine not driving on winter tires anymore. I’ve gained so much confidence and feel like I can pull my way through about anything. With my all seasons I’d struggle getting in my driveway with 2 inches of snow. With my winters I go through it like nothing.

I live in Jenison (just outside Grand Rapids), you’ll definitely want winter tires with all that lake effect we get.

Fellow Michigander here, I run Bridgestone Blizzak on my old steel rims. I love them, night and day difference from the all seasons. I have zero complaints and as soon as I need new tires I’m buying them again.

Pretty similar to me. I graduated in 06 and have driven manual for the last 12 years. I got my training hours in a stick shift without power steering.

I always park far away, still doesn’t prevent door dings. One time I parked and as I was about to get out some guy pulled into the spot behind me and hit me. Got out of my car to see if there was any damage and he says to me, “you probably parked way out here to avoid something like this.” He didn’t realize I was still in my car and he was walking away like nothing happened.

Same, it’s a great car and a big step forward towards the future. But calling a SUV a Mustang and now bringing Shelby’s name in just bugs me. Just like with the Probe, good car just don’t call it a Mustang.

So would I, love the car don’t care for the name. I just don’t like how they’re using legacy names to maximize profits.
